Hi, you are talking about mantle clocks. In that period those types were produced as a garniture, comprising of a central clock and two additional items on the sides. They are not bookends, but usually candelabras or simply decoration pieces. You may confuse them for bookends because some of them probably have a square-cut marble. Such garnitures were displayed on the mantle shelf or, much rare, on a side of a grand table. For an Art Deco book end see my link.

Thanks, jacobtrace!
So I guess you would just set the two "objects" on either side of the clock. That's kind of odd. They are cool looking, though.
Do you happen to know an approximate price range for these sets? The ones I saw were around $250 to $350 or somewhere in that range.

Well, that was the fashion. In terms of value, I have to see the items. You should look for a good detailed work, if there are metal (gilt or bronze) fittings, the more detailed the work, the better, and therefore should be more expensive. $250 in an antiques shop would not be anything special.

Some are very plain and others more ornate. $250.00 is a low price. I had my eye on one a year or so ago at nearly $1,000. Come to think about it though, seems like it was signed. The marble was kind of a light terracotta color, very pretty. Didn't get it. Out of my budget.

While on a trip to Europe, we first saw the marvelous Staircase of the Maison & Atelier of Victor Horta and the excellent work of the painter and decorative artist Alfons Mucha. Inspired by the beauty and mystery of these pieces, they decided to introduce the world this fine art.

Please contact us and we will offer you these art decó clocks
