dining room

I have a bay window with a seat and I have no idea what to do with it. Photos are attached and also a photo of one of the chairs so you can see color of them. Walls need to be painted and no idea about color. Room has a chair rail all around also. Any ideas would be appreciated. Not sure if I want to put a seat cushion or not... Thank very much. Tori

Looks like you have the same casement windows I had all over my home (based on the sweating on the glass)....Maybe replace the window with energy efficient windows without so many panes. Then add a seat with pillows. If you add drapes on either side, because you have a large radiator there, get a new rod that is much wider so that the curtains are completely on the outside of the radiator (if not, the heat will do weird things to the curtains). I like the natural light...you could install plantation shutters inside the window fitted to the panes in the window. Shutters could be 1/2 height so you still get light in OR full length ending at the seat. Depending on your interest in thinking outside the box, you could use wide width bamboo shades inside the window....that would give your room texture and color and set a relaxed mood. Good luck!

Monitor to be considered. Try BM Gray Cashmere for walls BM Dove White for trim, two additional host/hostess chairs, panels for the bay (agree new window if in the budget…the seal has broken).

I think this place is perfect for Hunter Douglas Silhouette,in cream color to filter the light yet still offer the soft cozy feel to the place. Very pale taupe to tie in the wall and chair, best to select 1 shade from the " wild" pattern in your chair, and make it 20 % lighter.

Hi judyg. Is the photo you sent of the rug a suggestion for my dining room? If it is then what color do you think drapes should be? Thanks

The window seems to be the focal point in the room. Personally, I love to have something dramactic as a focal point in every room. I love a large tall vase something dramactic with bamboo sticks or branches painted in your favorite color. Or some gorgeous statue. This will bring out the wow factor in the room. I love when people walk in and say wow!

Yes it was, based on what colors I am seeing on my monitor. I would go with whatever that white is in the rug for the fabric. Just well lined, linen panels. If you mean to draw them for privacy, then the width of the panel to be determined on that need. If you are just going to use them as decor 1 and 1/2 the width of the fabric for each panel. My recommendation would be BM Grey Cashmere for the walls, as that is what think I am seeing in your chairs and the rug.
