I can't speak from experience but I know people on this forum have fried the electronics on their induction cooktops by not following the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. I suggest going with less drawer space rather than taking the risk.

I am not suggesting that you do what I did by any means, because it seems that we have different set ups. The space under my cooktop is a two door cabinet, where I keep a tall stock pot, cookie sheets, a toaster oven, slow cooker and a toaster. There is still lots of clearance between those items at the bottom of my cooktop-the fellows that installed it did not bother putting in the heat shield.

Thank you. It looks like I will have an "induction drawer" above my warming drawer. My original set up had a space similar to yours moose2008 but with the reno it's a 3 drawer set up. Thanks all.
