one year after

Hi guys

I have not been on the forum for a long time, but I got so much good information last winter when we renovated our bathroom that I thought I would give a one year later update on what works well and what is so so.

Best decision - steam shower. I opted for one mainly as a bone to hubby, who enjoys the odd sauna, so he would not feel so bitter about the uproar of a bathroom renovation. I love love love it, and use it far more than he does. It relaxes, soothes, and warms the chilled bones on cold winter days.

Biggest non event. Bubble tub. The whole renovation project started because I wanted a tub I could soak in. Our soaker bubble tub is fine, but the steam shower is better, and I have only used the tub a few times.

Littlest non event. Coordinated towels. Took me quite a while to get the exact colour...and after 2 weeks I no longer noticed, and the old non coordinated towels are circulating through the bathroom with nary a thought.

Luckiest development. I opted for budget reasons not to put infloor heating under the floor tiles. The new boxed in tub was going to partially overlap the hot air floor vent. The handyman redirected the hot air from vent with an elbow, and the hot air was directed downwards on the tile. Result is toasty warm floor in front of the sink and shower door. One of our cats snoozes there - need I say more?

Biggest disappointment (which isn't that big). I was so pleased with our toto toilet that I installed a second one in the downstairs bathroom, only this one was elongated. The water in a single flush is frequently not sufficient, and I have been know to nag - its the silver handle on the side of the tank....

So...from time to time I catch myself eyeballing the old shower "tile" in the downstairs bathroom, and wondering how the beautiful tile I saw last year would fit there. Then I smack myself on the side of the head and say it isn't THAT bad, and the money should stay put. I had a great time on this forum though, and have highly recommended it to any of my friends foolish enough to consider renovations.

Cheers

Sallyj
