Diva De Provence buys their induction burners from Fagor, which owns De Dietrich. De Detrich is their so-called "luxury" line. But other than buying their burners from Fagor, Diva is separate entity. Just like Nissan buys some hybrid battery systems from Toyota, but are separate companies.

De Detrich currently has a continuum induction unit, after a number of years of development. It also appears that the Electrolux Group has their version that is currently available by their AEG division.

It isn't wide spread yet and I expect other manufacturers will eventually be offering similar products.

No doubt, it will solve large scale grilling problems. But it is difficult technology for the manufacturers to implement. The difficulty is in the ability of the continuum to "recognize" where the pan or grill is put, along with remembering the temperature it was set at.

It will be done eventually and within a couple of years there should be wide spread models available from various manufacturers.

I certainly will be looking for the larger "continuum models--in the 36" range. Even better will be a 48" with a wok burner on the left (12"-14") and the rest being continuous burners.

Then I'll have to cut up my island granite countertop to fit it and donate my Diva DPP-5 :-)

Greg, that might be the way to go. The De Dietrich is tantalizing, and if it were just right I might go for it. (For instance, if the Continuum came in white!) So it looks like I'll be getting the Miele, and extra tiles for when I retire it :)
