door jamb light switch

i'm considering door jamb switches for closet lighting. do these work well? is one brand better than another? is a junction box located close to switch to hardwire? another consideration would be a motion detection type switch, but i've read that these don't always last long.

I wired an alarm recessed door contact (switch) in most of my interior door jams. This will be connected to my automation system so that I can program the lights in the rooms to do cretain things when the door opens and closes.

for example, we always keep our closet doors closed. So it will be programmed to turn lights on when door opens and turn off when door closes.

bathroom can be set to have vent turn on for ten minutes after door is opened then closed.

Love our door jamb stiches for coat closet and pantry but would not use on larger master bedroom walkin closet. There may be times you want to keep the door open without having the light on. Pressure switches are wired and cut into the door jamb as it is installed.
