Guest bath remodel

OK, I hope I have Photobucket figured out and can actually post photos....here goes:

We recently decided that we needed to re-do our guest bathroom (formerly kid bathroom, but that kid is grown and gone). Reasons? Tub was cheap builder grade and slicker than slobber. Our 70-80 year old parents are the chief guests and it had become dangerous for them to shower in there. All the finishes were out-dated and, although we don't intend to move soon, they would have to be changed before we could sell.

Kept the vanity and repainted. Everything else is new.

Shower walls: Daltile navelli in 12x12 matte finish

accent: Ummm, can't find the name - basketweave tumbled marble from Daltile

shower floor: tumbled marble 4x4, also from Daltile

shower fixtures: Moen 270 from faucetdirect

vanity top: honed carerra marble remnant (also used on shower sill)

light fixture: something I found at Costco last year for $29

toilet: Cadet III from Home Depot. LOVE the way it works, don't love the way it looks and the cheap seat/lid it came with. But love the way it works.

What a transformation! Your bathroom looks great. I like the way you mixed in real marble with porcelain(?). It looks classic and modern at the same time. How do you like the Moen shower fixture? Also, I notice there are three knobs. How do they work? Is one for the handheld, one for the showerheld and the other temperature?

I love what you did with your bath. I've never seen basketweave trim used like that, but it is lovely. Congratulations on a great transformation. Bet the folks will be visiting more frequently now!

dazed, the shower works very well (we had to use it for the last 2 weeks while our bathroom had a leak).
The big handle is the temperature control. You put it where you like the temp and leave it alone. (Well, adjust for summer and winter, I suppose) The two smaller levers turn on the volume of water. One for the handheld, one for the main head. Yes, you can use both at the same time.
If you want chrome, the price is very reasonable. Alas, I wanted nickel.
Oh, forgot to add that all the other hardware is Moen Kingsley. I like the TP holder, the rod pivots up to change the roll. No more having the spring-loaded one fall while you are trying to get it back into the holder.

Very nice. I like the way you got a good pattern flow with the Navelli, and the boldness of their basketweave pattern in the accent.

I don't know why you haven't received many comments because you've done a beautiful job. I like how you used the basketweave and also the dark marble on the shower floor. Painting the vanity and changing from a tub to a shower made a huge difference. Congratulations!

Thanks sundownr, you are so sweet. I didn't post for good feedback, but to show other folks what different things look like in use. Having used the bathroom far too much in the last month, what makes me happy is that it feels really nice. The tumbled marble underfoot in the shower is just luxurious and the sink is big. I want to run my hands over the honed marble top... it's just so nice compared to the formica I grew up with.

    Hi,

I enjoyed seeing your new bathroom. Great job!!!!

Is that a Grab Bar in the shower? How long is it? Thanks.

I love your bathroom! What is the name and brand of the paint you used for the walls? What is the name and color of the floor tile? Thanks

yes, that's a grab bar in the shower. It's the same line (moen) as the rest of the plumbing. We searched for something that didn't look institutional - it's the same profile as the matching towel bars, just a larger diameter bar.

Sorry to not have exact info:
Paint is a 1/2 mixture of Home Depot's Natural Gray. I have learned to find the color I want and then mix it down at least 50/50.
I'll hunt up the floor tile name... sorry. It's another DatTile Tile.
