My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
Consumer reports seems to like them in general because they are considered a lower cost line, but many models are evaluated as performing the basic tasks well. I didn't consider them for a range, but we're very happy with our new Frigidaire dryer.
Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux, along with a whole slew or other brands, many of which are specific to certain countries. Brand names are bought and traded these days like sacks of barley. A brand's current quality level and market presence is determined by the brand's owner. What the name meant in the past may not be at all relevant to what it means today.
Often there is no distinguishable difference between two brands other than cosmetics and price. Sometimes a brand is used to hide sourcing from the consumer. For example, we have a Kenmore upright freezer that turned out to be a disaster. The foam insulation shrunk inside the walls causing them to pull in. The shelves then dropped to the bottom of the freezer.
Tracking it back through Sears model numbering system we found that "Gibson" built it for Sears (Kenmore). A little further research found that the Gibson name seems to be assigned to Electrolux's Frigidaire group, which is why we won't buy anything from Frigidaire. In fact, we are in no hurry to buy anything made by any Electrolux company.
Thanks for the link muddypond, and the information. I found a site where prices seemed to good to be true, and I this seems to be the best place for research.
At the same time, I purchased a washer and dryer with more bells and whistles than I will EVER use!
I just purchased a Kenmore freestanding range ( made by Frigidaire) I get a bit confused about all the brands because as muddypond stated, there is no such thing as a "Kenmore" brand etc. I do like it and we paid approximately $600. I didn't want to pay any more than that, because there are just too many things that can go wrong with all of the computerized parts and to replace a broken glasstop is about the price of the stove. It meets all of my needs. It has a couple of whistles I didn't need, but I wanted that Turbo Boil and warming element.
Good thought coco2008. I'm considering a Frigidaire cooktop and telescoping vent. The vent is available in black. Since my my couter top is very dark, I want to avoid the SS. Why pay big bucks for appliances that function the same?
Sorry, from personal experience - I will NEVER buy another Electrolux-owned company's product. I am not saying others are better, but my experience was awful, just awful. From three different refrigerators, a ruined floor and just horrible customer service. I finally got some sympathy from a VP with Electrolux who offered a free fridge, but I had to say , no thank you. Me turning down a $2400 appliance - that should tell you something. Do a search on Electrolux refrigerator temperature. This is the same fridge as the Frigidaire Professional.
