Bath Cabinet/Light advise.....

I need help. We are doing a mini make over of our master bath. This includes removing wall paper, painting and replacing a medicine cabinet with mirror that sits over our sink and putting in a light over that cabinet. (The old cabinet had sliding doors and a built in light). We found a frameless 30" beveled mirror/medicine cabinet at HD. It will not be recessed. It is mounted in place of the old cabinet. Now we need a light to go over it and we are stuck. My wife does not like those strips that contain 3 Â 4 exposed bulbs. Most other fixtures have 3-4 glass shades that face down but since the cabinet is not recessed they will hang down over the top of the medicine cabinet not out in front of it. I do not think this will look rightÂ.am I wrong?

People have suggested flipping this style light upside down so the glass shades point up. That is likely more appealing but by the time I mount the light a few inches above the cabinet, it will only clear the ceiling buy a foot or soÂ.how low should a light usually be. Any pics or site with pics would be helpful. Side lights are not possible, I do not want to get into moving wires.
