How to Replicate This Bathroom?

18 years ago

{{gwi:1395731}}

I'd like to create a bathroom like this. HGTV said it is a stock picture from their website designers, so there's no information about the products. I was hoping people here might be able to guess the tile used. I'm guessing ceramic tile. Is this subway tile? Do you think it is white? or off-white? Hard to tell about the flooring. And I'm at a loss as to what is in front of the vanity, a shelf? I can't even figure out if they put windows in the shower or that is a reflection.

I'm sorry I can't seem to get the picture bigger. It's easier to see things on the HGTV website (bath/design/room tours), for those of you who are die-hards. Your best guess would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It looks to me like it's go tthe kohler memoirs toilet and white beadboard walls. It's hard to tell if the tiles are white or cream but if they are white they are a bit warmer than the tub deck, which looks like plain white corian to me (it looks kind of thin to be stone or manmade stone stuff - corian is 1/2" thick). The tub faucet is becoming a fairly common style, you just have to poke around until you find it. There isn't enough of the sink to see so since you can't see it, not much point in copying it. I believe the window in the shower is reflection of the window above the tub. Frameless shower door, the floor appears to be some kind of very homogeneous tile with low variation and very tiny grout lines - the only place the grout lines show up are to the left of the toilet. It looks like there is a contrasting grout color, that the top of the curb and the knee wall are also made of corian. Maybe I'm just imagining myself but I think that tile has a little bit of texture to it - it's a gloss glaze but maybe not perfectly flat. It's not a subway but looks like a 4x4 - the curb for the shower is probably about 5" tall.

    You are very observant. I assumed the wall behind the toilet was tile, but after reading your post I looked more closely and can see there is a different size to the channels behind the toilet. I was thinking that was a lot of tile! Maybe tile beadboard (Ann Sacks?).

    The tiles look creamy to me. And I agree, it looks as though the tile has some texture to it even though it is glossy. That's what attracted me to it. What good eyes. I'd never have seen the grout lines beside the toilet -- I was thinking it was a marmoleum floor, but I guess you're right there, too.

    Thanks very much for your help. It's a great start for me.

    It is a pretty bathroom and I think the light coming in from what looks like a wall of windows really contributes to the effect.
    Just one warning: glossy tile can be difficult to keep clean.

    Whoa, gardenspice, did you open a can of worms! :-) I have rheumatoid arthritis so hubby gets the honors cleaning the bathroom -- and most other things. I thought I'd learned that tile was the easiest of bathroom surfaces to clean -- along with cast iron and corian. Now I'm gonna have to post another question. Thanks much for the heads up.

    The sink appears to be a Kohler Memoirs countertop sink set onto a countertop that's been bumped forward -- a nice treatment.

    I think Gardenspice nailed it with her observation that it's the window and abundance of light that makes this bathroom charming.
