Fiberglass is the worst, but those colors don't even look good on porcelin. We tore our the avocado green tub with matching toilet and sink! Why can't people put in neutral colors and save the trendy stuff for things that can be changed easily, and inexpensively, like paint and towels. Seems like a sin to toss a perfectly good tub because of the color. At least the toilet was recycled to a girl scout camp where every toilet is a different "trendy" color.

If you don't look at houses after 1959, be prepared to change out galvanized piping and abating lead paint and asbestos...I love old tubs too, but I love copper piping and no lead in a house with kids even more. You can always buy a salvage vintage cast iron tub to replace the yucky green tub --or just remodel everything :)

(p.s. colors in bathroom fixtures seem to be coming back, actually...)

I have an avocado green tub and green sink (not even exactly the same shade). My house was built in 1941, but somebody thought green was a good idea in the 70's. This is why I am using WHITE fixtures and CHROME finishes in the new bathroom. I want to hold off a dated look as long as I can.

You can run from a dated look, but you can't hide. Even old houses can be remodeled with "trendy" finishes!
