Open Floor Plan: Design Ideas Needed!

Let's try this again...I have attached photos of my newly purchased city townhouse. The house has 4 floors, but I am first tackling the design of the open floor plan on the first floor. This is my first home, so my baggage is minimal, and I am open to any and all ideas, in terms of new purchases. A few questions that I could use help with are:

1) Window Treatments: I am leaning towards mahogany wood blinds to match the kitchen caninets, and possibly cream panels. Is this a good idea, or should I go with white blinds or something else all together? Also, the living room has two double windows while the dining room has one smaller window. Should I cover them all the same, or do something different on the smaller window?

2) Open Floor Plan Design: The house is longer than it is wide, and although I do not have measurements yet, I am concerned that the living room area will not be large enough for the furniture I want (couch, two other sitting areas/chairs + bench and storage area at the entry). Any design ideas out there??? I want to have a clear seperation of space between the entryway, living room and dining room. Currently I am thinking of having my couch face the front window (seperating the dining room), but that means the TV console will be positioned in front of the front double window. Is this OK to cover a window?

3) In terms of colors, I tend to gravitate towards dark wood and I will be purchasing a beatiful brown leather couch at Restoration Hardware. If I do dark blinds as well, how can I spice up the color? The kitchen backsplash is brown, cream and green....does this mean my accent color shoud be green to flow throughout the space??

My style is a mix of modern and eclectic, and I will be adding lots photographs to the space. Overall, I want the first floor to be beautiful, welcoming and cozy. Please help Houzz community!! Thank you in advance - Eva.
