Heisey 'Lariat' Pattern Collection

Purplemoon requested "pics, please!" ...on the collections posting...so here are my Heisey Lariat pcs which are classified as "elegant glassware" in my glassware book.

My DH built this corner cabinet for me on our porch ...which is a very laid back area...the front is an old door rescued from my sister's farm house that was torn down about 10 yrs. ago, old barnwood, which I painted & bead boards:

Three Lariat pcs were purchased for me when I was a baby...my Mom gave them to me from my GM when I married.

Here's a close-up of a candy dish I bought on e-bay some yrs. back. Lariat was produced to compete with "candlewick" in 1941 thru 1957 when the factory closed...I have 18 pcs. in my collection...there are approx. 125 diff. ones.

Thanks for looking. Jeanne S.

Lovely collection!! That plate with the roses on it, did it come like that , I don't have any mention of that in my Gene Florence book if it came that way I think it is very rare! It is probably not collected by too many as the little loops are easy to bump & break off. My GF has the large platter 14-15 in. I think. Very heavy too! The cabinet is perfect for your collection!!Oh, did you know there are a precious few plates in black!! Jan

Very unique dishes, I like them. That cabinet is fabulous, your DH really made something special with a lot of memories to it.

Now when I see stuff antiquing, thanks to you Ladies, I'll be able to identify things like the ones in your collections. I like to look at everything in that big Antique mall, 500 dealers and over 2 hrs to walk thru it.

Jeanne, what a wonderful collection! I've seen that glassware before. I had no idea that it was rare or even the name of it. Isn't it great that we still learn new things all the time? The cabinet your DH built is beautiful! Gosh, that'll be an heirloom You can hand down someday! Does he build furniture for a living? The detailing on that cab is gorgeous!

I love your collection. Haven't ever seen them before. Wouldn't mind having a few pieces myself.

Can I borrow your husband for a few weeks? There's a couple of display cupboards I need built.

Okay, took me awhile before I could stop looking at the pretty roses on the large platter--so pretty and a good painter--did it come that way or did you paint the roses on?

The dishes are very pretty and look fragile, so great that they are tucked away safe in that gorgeous, wonderful, unique cabinet your DH built for you! Wow! That is gorgeous and how great that he was able to use that wonderful door!

Please tell us more about the old farmhouse this door and your Christmas window came from. Was it beyound repair and had to be torn down? Were there other great architectural pieces in it? I'm so curious now about it's history.

By the way, those pretty angel figurines sure would look pretty as part of a table centerpiece! Hint hint ;o)

Lovely collecton and what a nice sentiment too.

I've also seen glassware like that too, and never knew anything about them. In fact my DM had two candle holders like that and also the covered casserole dish you show.
Nice to get some education on them after all these years..lol

I love, love, love your cabinet. Your DH did an excellent job on it. Love the door you saved from the old farm house.

Whoopeee! My NA dolls are identified! THANKS, lynninnm! I Googled right away & now I know the history! I've always loved them since my Mom displayed them when they moved & she had a special room for her dolls! These NA ones were NOT her style at all...she loved Barbies...& Hollywood star dolls, presidents, TV celebrities, etc! So I was so tickled she gave them some time ago!

PURPLEMOON!...you "enabler," you! Sending that link to those beautiful ebay child planters!!! OHHHH,, so cute....the B&G that they call Dutch & call McCoy...I have all the colors of those...and thought they could be McCoy but never could find the "heart with arrow thru it" marking in any books.

Yes, Jan, my book also says that black pcs of Lariat were made but very RARE! I've never seen a pc yet! Thanks! And the Lariat "loops" can break (just like Candlewick!) but I've been fortunate enough to only break 1 off in all these yrs! (Knock on wood!)

Thanks, everyone, for all your comments..'ppreciate it! My DH is retired & tackles about anything in woodworking...we like to recycle & use alot of barnwood...I will pass on your sweet comments about the cabinet to him! I had seen a pic of a door cabinet some yrs ago & it looked perfect for this project!

luvs...the farmhouse was deteroriating so bad ...very old & yes, had some great pcs in it. My sis & BIL had raised their family in it...they are dairy farmers. The Amish came in & took out the cupboards & lots of usable wood ...my sis & BIL was happy about that because all would be bulldozed...I had asked for the door & the old bath window (my Christmas window post) & they let us take anything we wanted. Time was the main issue...as we both worked then & old house had to come down for new one to go up. So we did get some of the beauty!

    Thanks! Jeanne S.

Love your cabinet and dishes. DH does beautiful work and I love how you finished it. The dishes are so neat and I think I've seen them but never knew anything about them until now. Thanks for sharing this collection and I'll be on the look out when I'm yard saling for some.

I will run out of room if I stick around all of you ladies but I'm willing to take my chances.LOL Show us more of what DH has built for you when you have time. And I always love looking at your collections.
