Winter Tablescape

My DD gave me 10 of these beautiful plates for Christmas. I love the delicate look of the pale blue and white pattern on the border.

Here is what I came up with for a winter themed tablescape using them.

I never really do much with "blue" as it doesn't really go with the house decor. My Grandma had recently given me this royal blue tablecloth that she didn't need so I tried it with white placemats & napkins, silver chargers (SO MAD...you will notice I took 2 off to use elsewhere during the week and forgot to put them back for the pics I took!!), blue stemmed champagne glasses and lots of candles.

The centerpiece is a snowflake patterned hurricane shade I got years ago from Partylite. I put an icy branched wreath from my Christmas decor around it and tucked some white tulle in to fill the space. I intertwined a battery-operated set of LED lights (the blue that is supposed to be white kind - which actually goes with the tablecloth).

I have 12 of these glass-like candle holders and used 3 with floating candles set on mirrors at each end of the table. I added faux ice chips, a snowflake and the votive holder that matches the snowflake hurricane shade .

To further the winter theme, I filled square glass vases with faux snow, snowflakes and a votive holder and placed them on each side of the centerpiece.

A closer look at a place setting. Forgot to mention that DD also gave me the knife rests, never had any before. I still CAN'T BELIEVE I never noticed those chargers were missing until I went to put the pics on this forum! Even when I took this picture! Must be losing it....! lol!

Thanks for looking! Now, I best dig out my Valentine decor!

Dining Delight, I absolutely love the way you described the whole process for us on this post. And not to worry--with or without the silver chargers, this table just looks stunning! Great job!

I love those blue/white plates, the rim is just so delicate and sweet. Your iced wreath is really a pretty one and how clever of you to think to use the tulle to fill in the center, it looks perfect. I think all the variety of candles just makes everything sparkle. Love the floating candles on the mirror along with the ice chips too. Everything is very creative and just turned out spectacular. Luvs

Masterful! You made a frosty winter scene that's warm and inviting. The whole set-up is so pleasing to the eye.
I'm going to use the fork-through-the-napkin-ring thing, if you don't mind.

Love those dishes. Wish I had a set myself.

You say you've got 12 of the stemmed candle holders? Wow. Lucky gal. Do you sometimes put a candle at each place setting?

Wow, just stunning, looks like a fairy tale ice palace!

I also love the dishes, so delicate & pretty! I also love the use of a mirror on the table, will be looking for a decent sized one at garage sales this year.

    Thank you ladies.

Luvs, the one thing I definitely have a large assortment of is candle holders (from my years of being "addicted" to Partylite)and that is what most of my centerpieces/accessories end up being.
I'm still trying to get over the missing chargers.....

OA, I am only too flattered if anyone copies anything I've done. The fork through the napkin ring idea came about on another table where there just wasn't room for everything (story of my tables! lol!). I have 12 of those stemmed candle holders (2 sets of 6) but they are of six different heights so I don't use them at individual place settings - the ones on this table are the shortest ones.

Yachter, how nice of you to describe the table as "a fairy tale ice palace"! Not sure it measures up to that but I'm glad you like it. I also like mirrors on the table as they reflect the candlelight.

Gorgeous. And I love all the details you give us too - it makes me look more carefully. I love the layered look you have and the mirrors and candles are perfect.

The dishes are beautiful too. Mirrors on the table are so great. I finally got one for a feb table centerpiece and love how it reflects everything.

Oh wow!!! This one really knocks my socks off. It is glittery and glamorous. Do you set it up this way for one meal? Or will you leave it pretty much this way for a couple of weeks. I was thinking, it would look beautiful with some Valentine elements added. - Gail

DD, this is so stunning ! It just takes your breath away ! Wish I had paid attention when my BF's DIL sold Partylite products a few years ago..lol ! I have to say that I love that little jar in the first photo. Is it a candle holder also ?

DD this is just absolutely beautiful..down to every detail. I was enjoying your description of it all as I was looking at it...Like a 'Guided Tour' ...lol. Your blue & white dishes are so lovely..and the way you complimented their delicacy with the touches of crystal and silver is just so stunning. I love how you incorperated your icy wreath with the hurricane centerpiece..they work beautifuly together... I just love it all.

DD, that is just delightful...So shimmery and icy!

    Superb!

    Ditto! Beautiful as always.

Mo, thanks for your compliments. Hope you will be posting a pic of your Feb table with the mirror centerpiece.

Gail, thank you. I've left this tablescape out for a week. We have eaten a couple meals there but I'd like to have some company over. Hoping maybe tonight, as after church, we are going skiing and we hope to have a couple friends for an apres ski meal - the table may look good but the food will be VERY casual!! I am hoping to put it all away this week and do a Valentine one.

Susan, thanks! You probably saved a TON of $$ not buying Partylite! My aunt sold it, so I got a lot of deals but still spent way too much when I see so many similar things out there for much less. The apothecary jar in the 1st photo (with the plates)is one I got at 1/2 price last year after Christmas. I don't put candles in it but decorate it for the seasons. Would like to get more of those jars.

Jane, glad you liked the "guided tour"...thought it might be a bit too much detail but I know when others do that, it helps you focus on things you might have missed.

Kathleen, thank you. Yes, there are going to be a lot of possibilities with my new plates, just love them!

Bright, thanks, I appreciate your compliments.

    DD,
Your table is spectacular! Probably because we don't get much snow here, I am anxious to try some of your ideas. I KNEW there had to be a reason I snatched up an icy wreath at our local junky Goodwill last week but now I know what the reason is! I love your square vases, the wreath, the lights. What's best about your tablescape is that I can translate it (well, up to my abilities, anyway) to my rustic style--so it's universal!

    DD,

OK. Every time I read through this post I get dish envy. I try to ignore it, but it comes flashing back when I scroll past all the pictures. Will you pleeeeease share the name and manufacture of those plates. I just love them.

Your tablescape is beyond words, beautiful! I love how you've hung snowflakes above, too.

Gorgeous table and accessories. I love the dishes.

Magpie, thanks! We get A LOT of snow here so any "wintery" decor gets its fair share of use! If your 'icy' wreath isn't Christmas-y, you will be able to use it lots too as they come in handy for anything "sparkly" you want to do. I'm sure you will do a great job at your "translation" of a winter tablescape - love to see pics!

OA, you are funny! On the back of the plate it says "Queen's" and then "Fine Earthenware" I know my DD got them at HomeSense which I think is like your HomeGoods. They definitely aren't fancy china or anything, just "everyday" kind of plates but I love them, especially since my DD picked them out for me!

Lynn, thank you! Those snowflakes are hung from the chandelier and usually stay up for all my tablescapes until March.

    PD, thanks for your compliments!

Funny? Funny! Hey, I'm serious, kiddo. If I don't have to work too late tonight, I'll be off to the store in search of those plates. I'm a woman on a mission and nobody better get in my way!

    Beautiful !!! Very calming !!!

OA, you are STILL being funny! I sure hope you are able to find the plates!

Kim, thank you! Although I don't use it much, I, too find blue & white a very calming colour combo.

OA, good luck with your search, I'd love to have a set of plates like these too. I don't like all blue/white patterns, but this one is so pretty. That "I want it" bug strikes again! LOL
