Tablescape Tuesday

Here are my 2 tables for today...

The first I used Lenox eternal china,

gold flatware,

etched glasses trimmed with gold from Pfaltzgraf, the others are antique from a friend, they were her mom's..

Cream and wine toile napkins from WSonoma outlet, as well as the indiv butter dishes.

The urn with sugared fruits in the center is from Christmas Tree Shops,

and the tassels on the napkins are from WSonoma, meant to be used on wine bottles.

The cherubs holding place names..Romeo and Juliet..:) are from Michael's

The gold chargers from Cmas Tree Shops...

The second table is what we actually used for dinner...red, then black round mat, red plates from Wm Sonoma, heart ramekin, and red glass Pfaltzgraf,

Napkins are bandanas from AC Moore

Lantern in center is Pottery Barn, as is the striped runners, and X O glass scatters...

Dinner was salad, boneless pork chop, baked potato, and apple and whipped sweet potato...

Wow, Kathleen!! I love them both. The toile napkins are great and esp with the tassel. The cherubs are the absolute best though!! :)

Love the second one especially all the yummy food! The bandanas and the two runners are a great touch. I cant quite tell what kind of napkin rings you have used on this table.

To me there is just nothing like the creamy, glow of Lenox. Sigh, wish I owned some.

Both tables are beautiful I love the first one, but the Valentine one is lovely too. - Gail

More lovely tablesettings Kathleen! I love the glow of the first one.

Beautiful...I especially love the idea of the tassels as napkin holders. But please no more food plates, they have me starvin....looks so good.

    Thanks dream, and nc
Mo, the napkin ring is a lacey heart, used for cake decorating I think..
They are both for Valentines...did you see the name cards on the cherubs...Romeo and Juliet...:)

    And thank you, Jane...
Sorry twomonths, always scroll very carefully, and skip the end...Karen yells at me too...
What good is setting the table if you don't eat at it?? :)

They are just what I need to warm me up while in the middle of an ice storm that is supposed to last until tomorrow morning. I've already made and eaten soup for lunch. The pork chop plate looks just right for dinner!

Be back in a minute, gotta go get some pork chops out of the freezer for dinner!

WooHoo!!! Alfred helped and we now have pork chop beggar pockets in the oven and fried apples thawing. I cooked them fully before freezing, so they only have to be heated through.
Now....back to the important stuff, dishes! I'm in love with those toile napkins. Alfred says he likes the first table best, too. So elegant. I really like the centerpiece. And you always have those little touches that put the icing on the cake.
I don't have anything gold. I came late in life to this obsession and I'm still playing catch up on all of the basics. Alfred saw a commercial for a Marshall's and a Christmas Tree Shop in a city about 2 hours away. I intend to hit them both in March, if possible. Too much going on in Feb. DS's birthday, Pastor's son's wedding, and Valentine's Day. I already spent Feb's dish $$s on pretty new Valentine dishes!
    So, what's for dinner tomorrow?

Wonderful tables, Kathleen. I love those toile napkins...do I spy a RABBIT on them? Wish I could find napkins like this, and the colors are a favorite of mine.
We don't have that store here in Phoenix tho.

Twomonths, Kathleen is famous for her Fattening Fotos.
She leaves most of us drooling on our keyboards and getting hunger pangs at all hours of the day and night.

    hugs, Karen

Wonderful. Really wonderful. I'm setting out to find me some little placecard cherubs before V-Day rolls around.

I have those butter dishes too. I remember having seen them in another one of your posts. I think mine are about 25+ years old. I remember, at that time, they were a stretch price-wise. Never regretted it. Still like using them after all these years.

NcNana's right about Lenox, I think. I like using all kinds of dishes (well, maybe not paper ones, although I've been known to do it), but whenever I get out the Lenox, I just know it speaks of elegance without even trying.

The lips napkins are a hoot.

Love love love them both! The Lenox with the white and gold look is so romantic and the Black & Red is just plain Sassy! Kathleen, you have such neat accessories to use on your tables and those toile napkins are TDF (Sigh!)

I have a question for you . . . and everyone else, too:
Do you have several sets of flatware to go with different plates/looks? I have just one set, my Taos ones that have the concha handles, but am now thinking I need a non-Spanish/SW set, too, after seeing all your great tables.

No tablescapes here yet, as I've been running errands in town all day. I did finally pick up the salad plates that coordinate with the blue & white dinner plates I bought last week, though. Yippee! I bought some blue candles for the two candelabra on the buffet, too, but haven't figured out what else to use there yet. Maybe tomorrow I'll use them all and take some pics.
You all sure do make this a fun forum with your great tablescapes!

Thanks, OA, I have missed seeing you here!

Lynne, I have my everyday stainless, another set of stainless with a gold trim, and this gold set, which is a Farberware, so not anything great.
    And then my good silver.
I would love to have different colors, but I am in deep enough with the dishes, I better not get into the flatware too!!

Both sets of napkins are real eye catchers, the toile for it's elegance and the lips because they are so cute. Love how you used the two placemats for stacked color--very clever. Love that fruit centerpiece too, and you always seem to have just the right tablecloth to go with everything. Great job as always. Luvs

    Thanks, Luvs!
Betty, good to see you...I was wondering if everything was ok!

Kathleen, your Tuesday tablescapes are both great, each one special in its own way. My fav is the 1st one with the unique touches like individual butter dishes, the cherub place holders and those gold bowls. The red and black of the 2nd setting is very striking and looks great too.
I wonder though....why didn't you "actually" eat at the 1st table? Your food is ALWAYS fabulous enough for an elegant setting. Or was it because "Romeo & Juliet" had other guests? LOL!!

    DD

DD we didn't eat at the first table because I did it while DH was at the bank, and quickly put it away so I could do the other one for our dinner!

He already thinks I am crazy, and 2 tables in one day would be over the top for him! LOL

Karen, you have enough stores in Pheonix from what I have seen from your shopping trips. :)

Using cake decorating things for napkin rings - no way I would have thought of that!!

"He already thinks I am crazy, and 2 tables in one day would be over the top for him!"

    :)

Lynne, I have my one and only silverware set and that was part of a starter kitchen set from Ikea a few years ago when we got married! :) Its quite pathetic.

I only have one good set of silverware too. The ones I use for everyday have wooden handles which are very faded from all their trips through the dishwasher. I love the size and feel of them, so guess I should get some good paint and spruce them up someday! I'd love to have some of the colored handled silverware to go with special tablescapes, but that's probably the only time I'd use it!

I know exactly what Kathleen means about DH and the tablescapes. I haven't been doing any because DH is always home now, and he thinks I'm crazy for "playing with the dishes". I am going to do a table for Valentine's though, I think it will be part of my decorations for a week or so. ;o)

    Luvs

    You go for it Luvs!
I think watching football for hours is crazy too, but he still does it!
At least I am moving around getting all the stuff out and putting it away! Up and down the stairs, so it is good exercise...LOL

Oh they are both so pretty! I do have to say that I'm partial to the first one with the red toile napkins and those darling little angles. Just lovely!

You went to all the work of setting that lovely table and then put it all away before DH saw it? That is too funny!

Lynn, I have a few sets of flatware: sterling, silver plate and 3 sets of stainless. We use them all on a regular basis.

Okay Missy...where did you find the toile napkins??? You know that I need some!!
    J

oh PS: I would like a pork chop too!!!
    Thanks.

Jay, got them at WMSonoma outlet, on sale, then 40 off that...so 2.49! The original price said 10.00..

Hooooooo! Love the golden table! It's a wonderful one! And also particularly like the glasses.

Also, the lantern is so cute in the second tablescape!

Kathleen, wow, so much to take in on your tablescapes!

The first one is so elegant with all the gold & burgundy & the second one is so playful, they are both darling!!!

I like the crisscrossed striped runners on the second one.

    Kathleen,
Sorry I haven't been around very much lately. I usually try to at least stop in and check the newest posts every day if possible. It's been so hectic around here lately. End of the year paperwork to get done at the church( I'm the Sec/Treas), kids home for a long Christmas holiday, Alfred is still home full time recovering, and the major thing is- (don't laugh) I am trying to learn to play the piano by ear with a crash course!!! We haven't had a regular piano player at our church in a long time. We have a lady that plays the organ, Alfred plays the guitar, and our youngest son plays the bass guitar. But, everyone knows that you have to have a piano for it to really sound good.
I took several years of piano lessons when I was young, but quit and never played anymore. Now, for this to work I have to learn by ear because they change the chord for every song that is played depending on who is singing it and what chord they can sing in. There is no way you can have sheet music for every song in every chord. Hence the "by ear" lessons from Alfred. I need a miracle because I AM NOT gifted in this type of playing! So, I have been spending a lot of time sitting at the piano.
But, I will be doing a Valentine dinner table and I will try to post a pic.
BTW, our pork chop dinner was delish!

Betty, you are amazing!! Good luck with your lessons!
