Christmas Tablescapes Part 4

This is a tablescape I did in honour of our DD and her SO coming home 'late' for Christmas. She had to work so they didn't make it home until Dec. 30th (first time for us not to have her here on Christmas - was sad!). When they arrived, we had Christmas meals all over again and they enjoyed the new tablescape.

The good thing about doing a "late" Christmas table, is that I could buy so many 1/2 price items at the sales. This reindeer (DS calls it the "arrogant reindeer setting") was $10 and most of the other items are new (never did these colours before)at 1/2 price as well. The inspiration for this centerpiece came from a few of you who did a similar thing with turkeys at Thanksgiving!

While DS was home from University, he taught me a few things on my digi camera and I took these shots without flash but with a lamp shining overhead. I like the warm glow created. I also played around on Flickr and put frames and names on my pics - fun to do!

I used my gold rimmed dishes, another cheap set, called Primavera by Royal Heritage. The chargers are a copper colour and were $1.50 each on post Christmas sales.

We had a nice snowfall to give everything a Christmas-y look!

Have enjoyed sharing my Christmas tablescapes with you. DD gave me a set of black/red poinsettia salad plates for Christmas and I am still thinking of "trying them out" on a new tablescape before I take down our decorations....will post if I get it done!

My goodness, this is great too! I can't choose a favorite, but I love your "arrogant reindeer".

I can relate to not having your DD home for Christmas! We were in that situation last year and it was very hard. I am happy that she is married, but have a hard time "sharing" her w/ the in-laws!! I'm glad your DD got to spend time w/ you later and I'm sure she appreciated your effort w/ the table.

This is so pretty ! Not having your children home for the holidays really stinks ... my son and his fiancee got home on leave the week after Christmas, so at least I had that.. he hasen't been home for the holidays in 8 years and I haven't seen him at all in 3 years so I'm just counting my blessings that he was able to come home at all.

Ohhhhhh, I unintentionally saved the best for last! I love, love, love this tablescape! It's elegant and very warm and romantic looking. Unfortunately for me, though, you've now got me thinking about creating MORE Christmas tablescapes when most of the good stuff has already been sold in the stores. I need to remember this for next year.

The table is beautiful, tho I can hardly take my eyes off that deer. I LOVE him. I so wanted a big deer this year, but they were too pricey before sales and too GONE afterwards. sigh. Maybe next Christmas I'll finally find the one I want. Great price on yours too!

That is just gorgeous! And what great buys!
    It is a stunning table!

All of your tables are beautiful, but this is SO lovely, with the the glass and china sparkling and the beautiful snowy scene outdoors. I LOVE that arrogant reindeer. - Gail

Your photography is gorgeous, as is that wonderful reindeer! I love the colors you used on this table too, so very pretty. Love the last shot with the snow outside the window, really looks like Christmas. Glad you were able to have this special dinner, and thank you for sharing your creativity with us. Hmmm, have you started a blog about tables and decorating yet DD? I know it would be a very popular one! ;o) Luvs

I also love the deer, the colors and every thing. The snow outside really sets the mood too.

Wow.... beautiful table. Love the gold and copper combination. And the reindeer is fantastic!! The whole setting looks so warm and cozy - esp the candles on each setting.

DD, maybe I jumped the gun on saying the all white was my favorite~I hadn't seen this one yet. I especially like the centerpiece with the 'snooty' reindeer and the copper and gold color combination. I'll bet DD and SO felt like a king and queen sitting at such a gorgeous table~did you provide crowns?LOL Yep, this is my new favorite! ;o)

ps..where did you get the copper chargers?

Just lovely. I always enjoy your tablesettings. You definitely have a knack for setting a gorgeous table. An inspiration to all! Now I have to check out the other posts!

    Happy New Year!

I saw copper charges on sell at H.E.B. groceries in central TX. I can relate to the many dinners. My DD was headed to Iraq and when she had a 4 day leave we had thanksgiving (Nov 4) and then they put up tree and next am Santa came early and we had Christmas dinner. Then the next day we had bbq hamburgers for other holidays to come. Then I went to other DD for an early dinner and gifts before we left for TX and they left for WA. In TX at my DS home we had Christmas. Decorations and tree still up 1-5 cause DD pulled one of the early 2 week leaves and will soon be here -hopefully tomorrow afternoon. I kept a copy of the pic with the snow in the background to inspire me. I bought a few things at the 75% off at Target and was really happy.

Cass, thank you! I wasn't sure about the reindeer with his nose in the air like that but went with it and I'm glad I did (adds character to the table lol!). It is hard when our kids can't be home for Christmas. I am fortunate that our DD's SO's parents also live in this town so when they do come home, it is to the same place.

Susan, thanks! Poor you, I cannot imagine not seeing one of your children for 3 years!! That must have been very special this year when you did get some time with him.

Lynn, thanks for your compliments! I am forcing myself to stay out of the stores now as I keep seeing so many 'ideas' for new Christmas tablescapes - if I give in, I will be Christmas decorating until summer!

Karen, thank you! Wish you could have shopped with me as there were lots of those deer left at the local store. They were all in the same sitting position though or I may have gotten another one too.

Kathleen, thanks, I appreciate your comments. I need to get "Great Buys" now as I have overdone it with the Christmas decor budget this year!

Gail, thank you. The weather outside really cooperated for a good backdrop to my pics!

Luvs, thanks so much! I "dream" of starting a blog but that is as far as it will get. I don't think I have enough to write about or enough time in the day to work on one. Maybe when I retire which is still a ways off....

dd50 - thank you! Glad you enjoyed the tablescape and the weather outside.

Mo, thanks a lot! I always like to have individual candles at each place setting. Put those ones in the bowls but of course, not practical for the meal so had to move them beside the plates after the pic taking. Got four candles with rings for $3.50 so of course, bought two sets! I plan to put new candles in once the originals are gone.

Patty-cakes, thanks! LOVE your description of "snooty" reindeer! Maybe I should make a crown for the deer! Both DD and her SO did appreciate the table but were probably expecting "nothing less" from me as DD is very used to my addiction! The chargers came from a local grocery store (small town, Canada) so unfortunately you prob can't find them.

Work-in-progress, thank you! I am honoured to be an "inspiration" to anyone!

twomonths, WOW!! You certainly have had a busy holiday season - it is hard to fit in special times with everyone once they are grown and going in different directions. You sure are trying though and hats off to you! I am honoured that you saved a copy of my pic for inspiration. Don't you love 75% off sales?!!!

DD...I've been enjoying ALL your Tables..and THIS one is so stunning..and I think, my favorite. The color combination and accessories, are so rich looking. This table looks like a magazine shot. Those copper chargers were such a great buy and set off your dishes beautifully. Also, your Deer...is a Stand Out, and makes such a statement on the table. He's perfect!! I really enjoyed seeing this and your other tables...TFS

Just love the center piece! The colors are soo rich. Love the deer as well.

Jane, thank you! I have to admit that I liked the way this one turned out too but not sure if it is the set-up or the fact that I didn't use a flash for the pics - it does look richer and softer.

Bright, thanks! The centerpiece is actually quite a few items - starting with a cake plate topped with a brown cloth napkin and then the deer. I placed some of the very small brown and copper balls around the deer. That was surrounded by a faux green wreath with a faux gold grape wreath on top. Then I placed 4 sets of gold glitter grapes, 4 copper balls, 4 brown poinsettias. Then I stuck gold leave branches and some copper sparkly ones along the runner to spread it out under the other candle holders filled with the small balls. Much tweaking later, I came up with what you see! So glad you liked it!

Had to come back and look at this again--you really did a fantastic job on all your tablescapes, but this one is such a WOW! Everything from the tablecloth to the dishes to the deer just flow together so well. I just love it all. Bravo! Luvs

Thanks again, Luvs! The brown tablecloth was a gift from DH for Christmas so I can blame it on him that I HAD to go buy "a few things" to go with it!
