Front door wreath....

MY best friend asked me yesterday what sort of wreath I had on my front door. When I told her none, she asked why I took down my Christmas wreath~it was very Christmas-y with a Santa on it. What do you have on your front door? My fall wreath had moss, birds, a few brownish leaves, but not what I think was a typical fall wreath with oranges/golds. Should I hang it back up or something else? It seems way too early for spring! ;o)

I wouldn't leave one with Santa on it up, and I don't use one most of the year. I use one at Christmas & have a fall one & another one with sunflowers, but I don't always have a wreath on the front door.

I have a pine/pine cone wreath on the door...it has a bit of snow on it, and will stay up until the middle of March...then I will switch to spring. The back gate has an old rusty bucket full of "ice" branches. It looks pretty good. About the first of March I will switch it out to willow and forsythia branches. The back door has a grapevine wreath with a snowman, snowflakes and a sign that says "Frosty and Me welcome Thee".

I agree with your friend! I am so used to a wreath on the front and side doors, it looks bare without it.

Right now I have one from WM Sonoma that I got on sale..then when it gets closer to Val day it will be a Valentine's wreath, then St Pats, then Easter, and so on...

    I usually make them myself...

I just put up a large grapevine wreath with lilies, ornamental grasses, birds, bird's nests and eggs all over it. I've always thought a front door looks "naked"without something on it. Since my dutch iris, apple, peach and plum trees have all started to bloom (in Jan. of all things ), I figured I'd just go ahead with the Spring decor.

I still have my faux evergreen wreath up but it doesn't have anything "Christmas" on it, just some bluish coloured berries. I have spring, summer and fall ones was well. The spring and summer ones are looking kind of faded though and I'm hoping to replace them when I come across a good deal or when I feel "crafty" as that is one thing I actually "made" a few years back.

Where's everybody's cameras? No pics? LOL

No wreath on my door, have glass panels in it and a sliding screen.

I do usually have something seasonal on my window shelf beside the door and some kind of painted stake in the flower planter around the patio. Nothing either place right now, but I'm planning to pull out the Valentines decos this week so will take pics then.

I have my Valentine's Day wreath up and then I go into ST Patrick's and then spring and then a floral wreath for summer. I just bought a new summer one at the Christmas Tree Shop. LOL

Aunteyp, don't forget to take pictures to share here, we love to see holiday decor of all types.

Bright, I kept seeing the wreaths made from the plastic bags. Remember having one many years ago. But like you, I just wasn't sure what I'd like to put on it once I made it! Probably won't do one now until next winter--too many other projects ahead of it on the list!

I took down all my Christmas wreaths, which were only evergreen and pine cones. I have an Easter wreath, but it's too early for that, for me anyway. I don't have a Valentine's Day wreath so at the moment, I have nothing at all . . .just my door.

Sadly, I can't put a wreath on the front door this time of year. Everytime I have, birds started nesting in it. Same with my hanging planters. I have to wait until mid May to put them up or face the wrath of an angry momma bird.

I had a bird living in my front door wreath over Christmas. Gosh, I'd forgotten how they love to build nests in them during Spring. I have no desire to go through that! Last Spring one very trusting bird built a nest under the ivy on top of my garden wall. Once the babies hatched, a snake ate them all. We were so sad about that one. It's nature, but it's not always pleasant.
