If there are no washing instructions on the items I think I would take them to the local cleaners. I would hate to see them get ruined.

If the tablecloth is washable I would put a little vinegar in the water to help with fading. I don't usually dry stuff like that or just put in for a few minutes.

I have never had a placemat come out right after laundering. They come out crumpled & even if you iron them, they don't seem right, like they are out of square. I think they have a stiffening material in them & it really gets messed up when laundered.

I have plexiglass mats that I try to protect all my cloth placemats with, and that helps so I don't have to launder them, but I only have 4 and need to order 2 more at least.

I found mine new at a moving sale and have never seen them in any store to buy, but did find them online.

I have tons of brightly coloured tablecloths which I always wash separately on gentle in a front loading washing machine on COLD with liquid detergent (Tide) and then hang to dry. Then if needed, I run an iron over them. I'm afraid I don't know much about tapistry placemats though.
