Red and white table setting

I'm getting so brave...two blog posts in one week! I might actually sorta kinda be figuring this blogging stuff out.

This is a table that I did today and I had a fantastic time finding all the stuff to use. Since I don't own very much table stuff that's red, I used alot of things in the setting that belonged to my grandmother and aunt.

Here is a link that might be useful: A Touch of Valentine's Day

    DG,
For a "pink" person you've done a great job for a "red" person like I am. I love the checked napkins and the red flatware, and the curly ribbon napkin rings! You've put it together so nicely--it's a table with real snap.

I wish I had an aunt like yours, but alas, I'll just have to GO SHOPPING (boo hoo) for Valentines Day!

Dream, I'm nearly speechless at your lovely table as well as the adventures of re-discovering all the wonderful things from your grandmother! Your Aunt is quite the treasure trove for you to get lost in. LOL. Kudos to her too. I know your GM is grinning down from Heaven on this table! (and thanks for including a photo of her, its so nice to see the folks behind the stories).

I love your table, especially the napkins. All is PRETTY!
I think you are a RED person for sure along with your Pink Persona. LOL.

    hugs, Karen

    Oh DG, it's FABULOUS!
You're a "pink" person but red is a part of pink so I think you're still 'within your zone' :).
I looove the napkins , the centerpiece and the hearts between the plates. The glasses are gorgeous and the flowers pull it together so well.
How special that you had such a great day with your Aunt just exploring through your Grandmothers beloved treasures. In seeing some of your creations, I'm quite comfortable saying she's watching over you proudly.

What a lovely table!! I love the red and white!!
And, I think you should go over to use your aunt's things more often!
It sounds like she enjoyed every minute of it!
Very pretty, DG..and I hope your Valentine is getting better everyday!

I know you had a blast digging for treasures at your aunts. Your lucky you have some older relatives, mine are all gone ( my generation is the old one now). You found some real treasures. My favorite is the candlesticks and napkins. When we had our Victorian house I had a red and white kitchen and collected the polka dot glassware, but have since got rid of it. The red is fun for a change, that's coming from a fellow pinkie. I'm glad you're doing so well with the blogging, great site.

DG, what a wonderful table! I really like the flowers you used and the two napkins together. Those polka dot salt/peppers are just so cute and so is the little cardinal. You have a real knack for putting things together, and you probably did inherit the love of doing it from your Grandma. Thanks for sharing the pic of her with us. ;o)

Oh, gosh, how did I miss this post?!? I love it, DG! The red doilies immediately caught my eye, as did your lovely flowers. Your red glass vase is beautiful, too. What a pretty table to perk up February!

Thank you everyone! I had the best time going through everything with my aunt and I know she enjoyed it. I would pull something out of the cabinet and then we'd be off talking about how we could do a table with it. I found a pretty set of fallish dishes and we planned out an autumn table that we'll do in her house later this year.

The last 2-3 months have been rough for her. First she broke her foot and had to wear a boot for 2 months. The doctor told her to stay off her feet as much as possible for 4 weeks. After that, he said she could begin walking more and being on her feet.

Then 5 weeks after she broke her foot, she had a bad fall and broke her shoulder! She finally was able to get rid of the sling for her arm, but the doctor said her arm and shoulder were "frozen". She's been going to therapy for the last several weeks.

Hopefully the therapy will help. If not, the doctor says he will have to do surgery.

DG..this was such a lovely setting.
How sweet reading about your Aunt Helping you, and also about your DGM. She definitely passed her talents down to you, and you did do justice with her lovely things.
    I enjoyed seeing her picture.
I love your flowers, and how you arranged your napkins.
Everything looks so lovely and festive. You just keep getting better and better, and I really enjoy what you do.

Your poor Aunt. She must be miserable trying to deal with daily things with first her foot and now her shoulder. I'm sure you really gave her a fun day going thru stuff, bet she needed that. I hope she doesn't need surgery and her shoulder heals thru therapy. My close friend here went to therapy for months trying to stave off surgery and she succeeded, her shoulder is back to normal finally. But what an ordeal, not to mention pain.

hugs to you and your Aunt,

dream...what a special V-table! WOW, so wonderful that you could remininise (sp?) with your aunt and share such great memories! I love the red & white...I don't own much red of anything either. The napkins & S&P shakers are such so cute...and using the bit of red between your plates sure works! Enjoy this table with your DH & family! One day at a time, for DH's healing & your aunt...& good thoughts continuing your way. TFS your lovely GM, too! Jeanne S.

Love the red...my favorite color too! I'm sure your Grandma would be happy that you are using her things to decorate with.
