I can't help it I have aquired a need for glass storage/display items... found this at a ts yesterday it has a brass rose displayed in it.. Got it for $3... I was thinking of painting the brass part white What do you think.

Also found this other piece not sure what it really is... but thought it would be a cute display piece...it's not very big

I am not an addict!!!

    Bright,
The glass box is very nice. Does the rose come out? I can just see a little Easter scene inside, with a couple of bunnies, some air fern, maybe a mini picket fence...Personally I would paint the brass DARKER if I could, so it would "disappear" more. I think a bright color such as white might take away from what's inside.

The little cloche is nice, also. there must be a hundred ways to use that. No, you're not an addict. Just like WE are not addicts.

Have you tried polishing the brass with brass cleaner? I think I might just leave it as is. Love the rose.

bright I had one of those brass/glass containers..sorry I sold it. I used mine to display a sea shell that I found on the beach. There are so many possibilities with it. I would live with the brass for awhile before you decide to paint it.
The little cloche is unique..and that also has such potential...what fun working with both.

Hey Bright, I used to have a container like your glass/brass one. It was given to me many years ago with little plants inside. I think the lid ended up breaking off of mine, I don't have it anymore. Cute little glass piece too, and I love your tiny elephants. Luvs

Magpie is right, WE are NOT addicts. LOL. None of us!
    LOL.
Those are neat finds, Bright. I wouldn't paint the trim white either, but I'd probably paint it a dark bronze color, to darken it but still have it look like pretty metal. I'm not a fan of brass at all.

Hi Bright, I agree that the connecting pieces of the cute little box should go away not stand out. You want to highlight what is inside by the container not the other way around.

As to the glass in the second picture with you nice little elephants. This glass started out as just that, a glass. But somewhere along the assemble (blowing) line the stem was either broken or not complete and it became a dome. I collect bells and have a lot that started out just the same way, only they add a loop of hot glass to the middle of the inside and add a clapper. You pictures planted a seed of interest...why not use some of my big bells as domes!

Belle, thank you for the info it does kinda look like a bell!! I think you should use them as domes... and take pictures to share with us!!

That settles it the brass gets painted... not sure what color. I may try a couple of different ones and see what looks best.

Belle, I've also seen pieces like her bell shaped glass piece upside down in metal holders for floating candles. I had a similar one, wonder if it is in the guest room, I'll have to look for it. Luvs
