Electrolux Gas Range

Anyone have any experience with or know anything about the Electrolux gas range? Saw the electric range in Best Buy today and it looks really nice. They did not have the gas version on display.

We were going to buy one in a 36 size. Placed the order with half down even. Knocking on a month called the store and found out through the Electrolux rep that the all gas ranges had been pulled from production (Nov time last year). Even vanished off of the website. After looking on the web a bit to find out what the issue was why we could not get one I did read some things about the range having been outsourced to another company for production and that Electrolux was having some real quality issues with them so they pulled the production from the company. I guess to stop the reputation issues they would have had problems with.

Now I see not long ago the 30 inch is listed as being available again at least on the website. Did not bother to look at it to see if it was the same as the original design though.

    Cheers

    Hmmmmm

The pulling thing has me puzzled but maybe it was only the ranges?

I have a 36" gas cooktop and took delivery in November.

I really like it and have no issues.

Yes, was just the ranges as far as I know. We changed our mind from a cook top and decided to get a 36 range. Did not have one in store we could look at, but the specs on line etc. looked good as did the pictures. When the rep said they had stopped production due to an issue we were back to square one. They did offer us the DF for only $200 or so more than the AG in its place, but then we would have had to run more electrical, it was last years spec model and it just wasn't what we wanted. We wanted an all gas range and an electric wall oven so we had the best of both worlds as it where and could use existing gas and electric that was already in place.

I had the feeling that the store had forgotten to order the range and called Electrolux. The CS rep put me on hold when I asked if the AG had a problem and was not available and then came back and said that as far as she knew there were no problems and they could be purchased. This got us a bit hot under the collar to say the least so we went down and talked in person to the rep and sales agent at the store when the rep was back in. Again told that we could not order an AG range because production had been stopped. We said we could wait if they needed to order it fresh, but we were told that was not the issue. The issue was that all production had been stopped.

When we were told that they had stopped production again on the AG models I was less than satisfied as had conflicting info. I did a google search and after quite a bit of digging came up with an appliance forum that was discussing the issue and an appliance news type forum that gave info on it. That is where the range being built buy another manufacturer for Electrolux was found. Sorry, don't remember what manufacturer it was, but seems like it was Dacor. There were some quality issues from what I gathered and Electrolux (to their credit I would say although annoying to have happen while you finally made the decision which took us three month and now have to start all over selecting one) stopped production. Was not long after that the online Electrolux catalogue stopped showing a choice for an AG pro range all together and everything was DF in the professional series of ranges.
Wish I'd have kept the sites now as simply relaying our experience has been put into doubt.

Reasoning behind relaying our experience was to make the original poster aware that if someone did chime in and had somehow been able to get one of these models (although we were told they were new to the market items so who knows if the US market got many if any) that if they relay a problem with them that may not be the case with the latest production.

I still see looking this AM that the 30 inch size is now the only size available in the professional series ranges and there is still no 36 showing available anymore.

So, moving on from there. My point was only to relay an experience we had in trying to buy one so you were aware there was an issue at one point. Not to sway you to different brand or anything. Obviously they have now got things under control and are starting production again. Looking at the spec pages it looks like the range has kept the burners we liked with the dual ring. Seems like the power is about the same. I don't remember if the one we looked at originally had a stainless top surface or not. I can tell you that we have a stainless top surface around the burners on our DCS and we love it. So much easier to keep clean for us than the old black porcelain surface top we previously had. I might be remembering wrong here, but seems like I remember the AG used to not have the blue interior on the oven. I see at least it does now by the specs.

As a note, we had to start over on the range and ended up buying a dcs as posts on here swayed us away from a Wolf AG. When it came to the wall oven we did purchase an Electrolux Icon Professional Series 30 inch oven. We've been using it quite a bit since Nov and really like it. The blue interior is nice as it gives a brighter (has twin lights too) oven when the lights are turned on. Maybe shows slops more, but then we wipe out and clean after each use as needed on both ovens we have. Full extend roller oven racks are really nice. Work great and support well without feeling loose or cheap. Looks like the same are used in the AG 30 range listed.

So, boils down to after such a huge post. I would say Electrolux must have fixed whatever the issue is. We are happy with our wall oven by them that seems to have some of the same features. You can probably get a feel for what the oven on the range will look like by looking at the 30 wall oven interior. Only difference would be that you might have a bit more useable rack room in the gas range perhaps. Maybe the same. Only down side really we've found with our Electrolux oven is the cavity is large when they do the rating, but actual rack sizes seem tight. A half sheet pan fills an entire rack and must be put in sideways. Again, might just be because it is electric and you might have more room in the AG. For us has not been a problem as if we have really large quantites to cook or large items we just pop them in the 36 DCS which is huge.

Hope that helps a little at least and clarifies my previous post.
    Cheers

I am also looking at the 30" Electrolux gas range with a double oven. I haven't been able to look at one yet and can't find any reviews. So if anyone knows anything, I am anxious to hear. Does anyone know if the bottom oven is gas as well or electric? I called Electrolux and they said it was gas but I have not received very accurate information from GE when I have called them and it seems like all of the other gas ranges with 2 ovens are equipped with an electric oven on the bottom like the GE cafe.

Saw the gas version at Bestbuy and the bottom oven is gas. Bestbuy also had brochures on the Electrolux products. I am also interested in reviews on this one as we are replacing out gas slide-in range this fall, I have narrowed it down to GE profile, Kenmore Elite and the Electrolux.

I sold my professional BS range and bought the Electrolux EF30GF65GS range. It is excellent. It has a 18, 14, 2 x 9.5, 5 kBtu burners, a self-clean convection oven, a second small oven, highly sophisticated touch-pad electronic controls. One piece molded stainless steel surface with sealed burners. Very easy to clean up any mess. Very powerful and good assortment of burners necessary in a home setting. They actually incorporated all of the recommendations of Consumer Reports Range review and in the process built the most versatile stove there is in a very attractive price of $2199 for the stainless steel model. I highly recommend it over any professional range that I have seen and used.

I'm trying to decide between the Electrolux stand-alone 30" gas range and the Bosch equivalent. Has anyone considered the comparison? I'm glad to finally see a review of the Electrolux, it's really attractive but I'm looking for performance and reliability too.

    thx.

Yes, we saw both Bosch and Electrolux side by side at Loews particularly because of teh fact that we have a very nice Bosch dishwasher for over ten years. First, the burners are not powerful. Second, it does not have the looks and sophistications of their dishwashers, not a good match. On the other hand Electrolux has all of the features an ex-prorange owner like us were looking for. Very high power (18000, 14000 Btu) burners, two medium power and one very low simmer burner, that is a perfect combination for us as it covers stir-frying chicken to simmering milk. It has a very nice stainless steel outside with blue oven, easy glide oven racks and highly sophisticated touch-screen digital controls that is totally unique in any price range ($500 - 10,000. After installation, it perfectly blended with stainless steel Viking backsplash, thermador hood and Bosch dishwasher unlike my $4000 professional range before it. It is probably the most well-designed stainless steel range we have encountered at a reasonable price. Just in case, we got five-year additional dealer warranty for $99 and plan to get another one from Electrolux.

Thus far, it is performing extremely well including the two ovens. It looks like it is also very well engineered unlike the "restaurant" like Pro-ranges. As for reliabilty, it is too early to say anything.

I'll be more interested in another range with elaborate electronic controls when all these folks who have bought them in the last two years, report back in the year 2013. Both my gas ranges with electronics started going flakey after five years and boy, are those boards expensive!

But whaddyagonna do, jkom? I was looking at a Bertazzoni but not thrilled with what I saw, and it's a tad more than I feel comfortable spending, given how much we cook (only moderately--we're not foodies by any stretch of the imagination--we're more "nutritionies", if there is such a thing :) and that doesn't always involve cooking). What are the options under, say, 2K? I'm not in Canada, so can't get the BlueStar there, either.

Bought a 30" gas Wave Touch Electrolux range, had it delivered this past Saturday and found condensation problems, (we were told not to turn it on for at least 3 hours after delivery, so it had a chance to come to room temperature. We left it sit for 5 hours after it was delivered.). This stove was VERY HOT,in places where one's hands touch, enough to get burned, and a tremendous amount of heat escaping from the vent which is on the back of the range top. this area is also so hot that one could get burned. We went and talked to the dealer we purchased it from and he did an exchange this past Monday. Same thing with the newest one they delivered. Called Electrolux, they said we should not have these problems...Long story short, nice looking gas range with nice features, but it's going to be returned and we will be buying a different brand. Too many other things in life to worry about these days and a new stove with problems isn't one of them. There are other choices.

I'm trying to decide if I buy the Electrolux EW30GF65GS or the Bosch HGS7282UC. I like better the features in the Electrolux, but I wonder abut the blue color in the oven and how it will change after months/years of use. With respect to the Bosch, my concern has to do with the many complaints from users about Bosch products in general and specifically about customer service.
    Any feedback will be appreciated.

Anyone else have the heating problems posted by lovethemovies. I am planning to purchase one soon and live in a condo with a very small U shaped - no window kitchen.
Concerned now about the heat problem. Also if the oven gets so hot, especially with the lower oven so close to the floor, what happens to the floor below? Does it have good insulation on the sides and bottom to protect the cabinets and flooring. I would think this might be a problem especialy when on the cleaning cycle.

Anyone have this range for more than a few weeks that can comment?

    Thanks
    Gail

I recently returned an Electrolux EW30GF65G after a seriously disappointing experience. For starters, the second oven is seriously underpowered - it's really an overglorified warming drawer. Even at 400 degrees, I couldn't get oven roasted vegetables to brown after an hour.

Even worse, the electronics controlling the main oven went out after 6 days of use. And their service was dismal, to say the least - multiple broken appointments, failure to call back when promising to, and half hour hold times whenever I called.

I really liked the idea of the electrolux range, and the parts that worked were very nice (good burners, great smooth glide racks, nice convection cooking in main oven) - but after my experience I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else.

Wow mistermackie, that sounds awful. I myself am looking at the Electrolux EW30GF65G and also the GE Cafe Series. I'd rather get the GE Cafe but have heard such bad things about it as well, plus the additional backsplash is only 5" giving me a bit of a problem since I'm replacing an existing freestanding. Has anyone had a good experience with this Electrolux? Tomorrow I have to decide and am getting really worried.

I just bought the Electrolux slide in SS slide in gas range two weeks ago and so far love it!!! I am replacing a 2 year old Kitchenaid which covered by my extended warranty lemon policy. NEVER ANOTHER KITCHENAID. The Electrolux feels like quality, the burnes work extremely well with good control and the oven heats evenly. Lots of "bells ans whistles" which was not what I was looking for but the electronics seem to work well. So far the all stainless steel top seems to be easy to clean. It all looks so shiny and sleek that I'm afraid to get anything on it but I will get over that. I might add that it is also very quiet. It apparently has a cooling fan which I found only when I felt a soft breeze near the top of the oven door--I could not hear it at all. The Kithenair which had the cooling fan replaced four times sounded like a 747 and the oven ignition sounded like a gunshot EVERY time the oven ignited and cycled on and off. I looked at the GE Cafe too and while I liked the center burner it looked cheap by comparison to the Electrolux and when I thought about it we would have little use for a center grill. So far very pleased and hope this review helps.

I just bought an Electrolux range 30" all gas, white. I had a scratch on a panel and had a GREAT experience with their customer service who sent a new one by Next Day Fedex and had it replaced by their tech all under their warranty. I posted on this here separately too. Haven't used it yet (kitchen not doe yet) so can't comment on that.

I have to say that it's pretty frustrating to shop for a replacement AG slide-in range only to find reviews at opposite extremes for most every range we've considered.

It seems that for every positive review of both the range and customer service there is an equally negative review of both.

    GE Cafe series
    Electrolux
    KitchenAid/Whirlpool
    Kenmore, etc.

I'm leaning towards a minimal electronics unit thinking that heat and electronics are not a good mix for a longterm relationship. Then we start talking bigger money. The reviews of American ranges appear to indicate multiple problems with gas valves, etc. Not sure yet about Capital, etc. But the cost just expands when looking that direction and finding a local reseller can be problematic too.

Maybe I should just look for a good wood-fired stove to replace our problematic Magic Chef gas range. ;-)

Isn't the bottom oven in the Electrolux strictly a 'warming drawer'? I know that the bottom oven in the GE Cafe can be used as a 2nd oven up to 450 degrees, but I can't find any information confirming that this is true for the Electrolux
