I was inspired...

...by Jeanne's lovely pedestal cake plate decor so I pulled one of mine out and made a feeble attempt. The cover is not as deep as Jeannes' but works OK for things that are not too tall. Still needs tweaking and may get a total overhaul but I'm posting it anyhow!

This works well to keep the little chicks out of the cats' reach - those fluffy chicks don't look very good when the cats get thru playing with them!

Planned to use some trim from my sewing stash but my pearls were just hanging there. Seeds will be planted when things thaw around here.

This is an ornament done by the same potter I've bot from before and I couldn't resist it!

DH and I play Scrabble often and I have extra sets for crafts so right now my house looks like a spelling lesson! Just let me see something on a blog and I can overdo anything! LOL Just havin' fun!

I'm terrible but will go ahead and admit, the first thing I did upon seeing the furry chicks was giggle because I know you have to combat the kitties like I do with decor. lol
This is very cute and I'm so happy you had fun with it. I love the gardening bunny surrounded by the little chicks. He fits perfectly with the seed packets (esp the lettuce, so "bunny appropriate").

Bad Cat Momma! LOL. Spoiling their fun like that.
The Bunny Farmer tending his chicks and garden is too cute tho. Made me smile!

This cake decorating stuff is fun, maybe I'll pull out mine and play with you guys. Tho I am trying to do the St Patrick's decorating today and shouldn't get sidetracked till I'm done. I am SO easy to get off track, LOL.

LuckyG, your cake plate is darling and I too love the bunny with the rake. Adding the seed packets was a great addition. Bad Hare Day bunny and the little chicks are cute. Love the Spring sign!

The best part is your DOME fits on after decorating. BTW, thanks for not rubbing it in.LOL

Karen, you are going to blow us away with all your goodies I'm sure. Can hardly wait to see them.

luckyg...ahhh, gardening is on your mind! Lucky you... being able to be out in the dirt, already! So this little rabbit with the straw hat is so fitting for your cake plate! Love the seeds packets & like MM, I giggled when I saw the "fuzzy cks" under the glass...thought how irritated it must make your kitties!

The flowered plate is beautiful & the blue glass one sure brings out the colors of that plate. Hare ornament, winsome! Scrabble "spring"...I like that...I did some more Spring decor today (a little at a time, ya know!):-) anyway, I have old kids blocks that spell out Spring & put it on one of those fake cabbage leaves with a yellow enameled cooking pot...FUN! Will share more pics when I've done more. TFS your vignette! Jeanne S.

That is very cute, and cats are terrible re-decorators!! You should have seen me chasing Posie out of the wedding reception decorations...ugh!! I finally locked her up in the sewing room for the duration.... She slept all day and looked at me like "what'd you wake me up for?" when I opened the door to let her out... silly cat...
Thank you for posting and warning me to watch out for my chickens!

I love your scrabble sign and the seed packets. Perfect for spring. I might have to steal the scrabble idea - I really love its simplicity. I see some fun plants there - have fun with your planting season!!

Too darn cute! I love the bunny gardener and chicks, and the seeds are just the right touch. I had the best weekend digging in the dirt and will most likely be MIA from the forum soon, the yard is calling me.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments!

MM, I know there are several of us who have those adorable furry and playful pets so understand the challenges. We've had cats for years and altho I doubt anyone can really understand them I have (mostly) learned what to keep out of the reach of those little paws. Altho they always do find something to play with that I've missed! LOL

Karen, I really do try to spoil some of their fun altho they do rule around here. Right now I have one sleeping beside me and another across the room staring at me! LOL I'd have at least one on my lap if the laptop wasn't there. Sometimes I even have one there *with* the laptop!

Punk, I hadn't seen your dome when I did this. Altho nothing wrong with not covering unless you have cats! I've been a bit absent because of overdoing and other things going on in our lives.

Jeanne, I've left the seed packets out so I don't forget about them as I've done some years! They will get planted eventually altho we just got 1/2" of the white stuff after having none since December. I look forward to seeing how you use your blocks. I have some of those for crafts (bot at yard sale still in package) and haven't used them yet so need some inspiration.

Jaybird, I'm laughing at your "cat re-decorators" statement and know exactly what you mean. There have been times I've put each of our 3 in separate rooms for awhile when we want to do things where they'd be a hazard either to themselves or something else. Ours try to get outside sometimes so when we are moving things in or out they have to be kept safe.

Mo, I loved the Scrabble sign thing when I saw it but this is the first time I've used them this way. I've seen it on several blogs. They are also great for other crafts and I've made a wall hanging (for want of a better description) with an entire set.

It's fun to see all the Spring items coming out now. I too will have to see about doing some stacked plates or my cake plate after St. Pat's is over. I like the idea of the scrabble tiles spelling out the word--cute.

LG, I want to see your scrabble wall hanging! That sounds unique!

When my 4 little re-decorators are interfering with things, they also get put into another room. My study. I will gather them up and take them to jail as I tell them...funny thing is, now I just say "let's go to jail" and Ty heads for my study. Silly boy!

Spring fever has hit! Very nice!
I have trouble taking pics of the cloches. I asked my friend who is a photog. and she said it is difficult, no flash, or reflection...tough!

    Thanks again for the comments.

Luvs, I've seen the Scrabble tiles signs on many blogs so it's not original. In fact that's where I find a lot of inspiration - besides here of course.

Karen, your cats are certainly smarter than mine, altho mine sometimes try to hide if they know I'm going to close them in a room so maybe they are not toooo dumb! I'll show you my Scrabble craft but please don't be too critical. The words are not arranged the way they would be in an actual game. I challenged myself to use all the tiles of one Scrabble game only and make words that mean something to our family. DId this years ago after I saw the idea on a blog (of course!) but think it looks as if it needs something more - perhaps a frame? I dunno, but anyhow it is what it is.

    {{gwi:1416066}}

Kathleen, I almost never use flash - that's a reflection of my kitchen window on the cloche. Couldn't seem to stop the sun from shining! LOL Would have worked better if I had waited til evening but ever since a couple of my pics were stolen (that I know about) I've decided that "good enough is good enough". ;-D

Its neat you made words that meant something to you and the family. I agree, a frame would really set it off.

Oh dear, stolen pictures....sometimes I wonder if anyone will think that about ones I put in our Inspiration albums without permission. I try to give credit when I know who's they are, and ask permission at times. But if they are on google or the web, I sort of figure its ok to use them.
    Bad me!

    hugs, Karen

Karen, it's difficult to know when it's OK to use someone else's pics or not and I think most of us are guilty of using OP's pics. What I don't like is when people with commercial sites use them without giving credit which is what happened to me. That's different than posting for inspiration IMO altho I've started labeling pics I save with the source so I can provide it. It's also pretty easy to know on sites that have very firm statements about owning their pics. Altho I've collected quite a few of those as well. *hanging my head in shame* Hopefully I'll remember not to post them. ;-)

Love that floral plate on the stand & the blue plate with the seed packets. You've really created a vignette that is cheerful & perfect for the season. I'm another fan of the scrabble message...it is very sweet & original!

    Awwwwww, so cute!

Thanks S-Gardener, the floral plate was a y/s find but the blue shallow bowl was a wedding gift from Norway. I've recently seen knock-offs that are made in China but I think mine's a little nicer. LOL

Thanks Lynn, I don't do cute too much except for spring and when the DGC visit. Never did any cute decor before I became a GM! Things are different now!

LG, you did a wonderful job on your words! What a neat idea!

Hey, does anyone know how many blogs you can save to your favorites before they start to "blog" down your computer??? Darn, there are just so many good ones out there and I'm always afraid I will forget to go visit again if I don't put them in my "favorites".

Thanks Luvs, I love those Scrabble word signs altho would hesitate to post all the signs I've done recently. I have several so my house looks like a spelling lesson right now! LOL

I've saved a zillion bookmarks to every site I like on the net. Seriously, I must have many thousands. I've made 4 bookmark folders for blogs alone so I can find them more easily. I have Favorites, Canadian, Foreign, and General blog albums. I have 52 folders for Gardening links! Just counted. I do have lots of memory on this laptop tho. I also recently put all my pics on 2 memory sticks (total of 21 GB) so don't have those in memory any longer. It's a wonder I get anything done IRL with all the favs I have.

One thing I think you might do if your computer lacks memory is to write all the addys in text, make it into a pic by copying your desktop when it's open, and put it on your photobucket as a pic. Make the writing large so you can see it clearly. Then you only have to cut and paste from there. Hope this is clear, I'm never sure of the terms altho know how to do things.
