What tile do I use to make this pattern?

Hi,

I am tiling my bathroom floor. It's only 5' x 6' and want it to look like the design in the link below, i.e. predominantly white with blue art deco-type knots at each of the four corners.

I was originally thinking about using glazed 1 inch hex tile for the white part, but am unsure if hex would work for the blue bordering corners. Anybody have any ideas? I'm grateful for any criticisms and suggestions.

TIA!

I'd use 1" squares for the whole thing. You can find that in a wide array of colors. It would give it a needle point/textile feel to the pattern.

My vote was going to be for a combination of the two-- use white hex, but then blue 1x1's. I don't have pics, but years ago, I did a master bath down in Coral Gables just like that.

Thank you both for your feed-back. Bill, did the Coral Gables job look good? As for the white hex, did you use marble, ceramic, glaze, etc.? I'm clueless, and all ears...

Thanks again!

I used ceramic mosaics, specifically American Olean. Here's another one I did back a few years ago for someone in THIS forum (salbwil). This was a laundry/powder room, but instead of blue, we used a tan 1x1 for the accent. It wasn't quite as decorative, but I actually have a pic of this one, and you can get the idea:

Wow, looks great. Come to Boston and do my bathroom! I make a killer margarita.) All kidding aside, is my design too complicated for the average tile contractor? How do I find a qualified person?

Funny you should say that-- that wasn't done to far from you-- right by Peabody. :-)
