Porcher?

Does anyone know anything about the quality of their product (I'm considering pedestal sink)? Similar quality to Kohler? Lesser or Better?

I have the Porcher Reprise faucet that I bought for my soon to be made new bath in my basement. I just love it, and love the feel of it. I don't have their sink, but was told it was a higher end product. The faucet certainly feels like it, and moves nicely. I recently called the company to order new water lines, and they were very helpful.

I haven't been that impressed with Kohler products in the past, and don't understand why the cost is so much over others. I used the American Standard console sink in my other bathroom (mainly for the period look) and love it, for several hundred less than a similar Kohler. It's been there for 5 years now and not even a scratch on it, and I drop makeup bottles in it all the time!

Porcher makes very good quality items.

Perhaps you are looking at Kohler's "value menu items" that one typically sees at the box stores? Those are generally not that impressive , nor that expensive either. Take a look at their Karbon faucet, DTV shower valve / controller, a bronze sink, or their cast iron offerings. Those are very well made, lead or even innovate design and have as good or better quality as anyone's stuff.

None of this prohibits them from making a junk or cheap stuff though, so it really depends on what you are looking at.

We installed a Porcher pedestal sink in my son's bathroom a dozen years ago. It looks like the Sapho model currently on their website (attached chrome towel racks) except the faucet is installed to the left rather than centered. The sink is beautiful. But the pop-up drain mechanism stopped working long ago.

I'm looking at the Porcher Lutezia pedestal sink on the Internet. Not purchasing from a big box store.

I have a Porcher Lutezia wooden vanity, five years old.

The porcelain top is still gorgeous, shiney and pristine. The wooden vanity, on the other hand is going out in the dumpster. The finish is peeled and cracked and looks a mess. I am disappointed in it.

So I'm a mixed vote. Thumbs up for the porcelain, thumbs down for cheap veneered wood and cheap finish.

You would think I lived with chimpanzees, for the damage it has taken with just regular use.

Hmmm . . . the one I'm looking at doesn't have any wood; just porcelain. I've learned my lesson with a wood vanity, which is why we're replacing it with the porcelain. I have a very cute furniture looking vanity from Hooker that is a warped mess. It's so impractical--the sink is so tiny, water goes everywhere and has ended up warping it--we don't even wash our hands in that bathroom anymore. I look forward to getting a replacement soon!
