Hi Becky, glad to have you joining in here. I have a little 5 yr old GD that I'm always trying to entertain too. You could do something as simple as cutting out some egg shapes from construction paper or foam and letting them use different things to decorate them. Good way to use up scraps of rickrack, laces, beads, ribbon, buttons etc. Or you could cut out a flower pot shape and then various sizes of flowers, stems, and leaves and let them fill the pot.

We have several school teachers on this forum--bet they will come up with more fun ideas for you.

How about cascarones? Start saving the egg shells NOW.

This is a site I bookmarked - the younger kids might need help, or to use cookie cutters, but most kids like playing with dough. Link below.

There are 24 pages of kids crafts here but you might have to click thru a few pages to get to the Easter ones: http://www.plaidonline.com/kids-craft-projects.asp

Some kids Easter crafts here: http://www.allfreecrafts.com/easter/index.shtml

And more here: http://www.allcrafts.net/easter.htm

Have fun!

Dye eggs. They love it! They can be raw, but I'd recommend hardboiled. lol!

Have crayons, waterproof marking pens in different colors, and a little pot of melted paraffin wax, if possible. Have jars of pre-mixed food-based dye (amounts are listed on the food coloring pkg). Decorate by drawing on the egg w/ crayon, or dipping them partially into the pot of melted wax, then dipping in a dye. Draw/dip again, and you'll see different colors (wax displaces the dye so won't take color wherever the wax is). Or pre-dye the eggs and write on them with the markers.

Another neat thing is to use gold spray paint to make a "special" egg. :)

It's all easier to do than describe -- but if you want more info let me know.

When our kids were that young, my bestfriend and I set up a table for them to decorate sugar cookies that we'd made in the shape of Easter eggs. They loved the decorating and the eating part, too! I was a room mother for many years and did this for my classes, too.
