Our Easter Dinner . . .

Hi Everyone! I've been scarce since Christmas. I had to walk away from the land of dishes as I was catching quite an itch to start buying. :) I've peeked in now and then to see all your pretty tables.

Had an early Easter dinner last weekend and thought I'd post some pics. Happy Easter everyone!

We've missed you Sheesharee, wondered why you had left us. We are bad about causing cases of the "I want that" disease on here, aren't we? LOL Glad you were strong enough to resist if it was going to stretch your budget too much. I remind myself of that quite often too. LOL

You are getting quite good at doing vignettes for your bar, I'm sure your family really enjoys how festive you make it look. Those plates are very lovely, I can see why you would want more, lots of nice colors to pull out with you napkins, tablecloth and centerpiece items.

Happy Easter, and come by whenever you can.

I too like your plates! And how lucky you are for having such a big place!!!

Lovely display. If your plates have the maker and design name on the back, you should tell us. Us thrift shoppers are always finding nice things that are not in our paticular collections. Newbie susie

Shee..Very nice Easter Display and I agree how lucky to have so much space to set up two tables!
I love those plates too. Where did you get them?

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I'm glad we have the space to squeeze the other table but it is about half a pain to lug all that up from the basement. I normally send DH up and down and up and down... for that though. :)

Anyone notice I didn't use plastic/vinyl tablecovers this time? It was easy to just throw them in the wash when everyone left! I like the look much better.

I just looked at the back of the plate and the stamp says Windsor Fruit, Windsor Ware, Johnson Bros England.(as well as "A genuine hand engraving, Reg .US Pat.OFF, all decoration under the glaze detergent and acid resisting colors".) I think the plate is much prettier in person.
I bought it at our local flea market AND only paid $.25! You guys would have a blast there! I seriously think you guys every time I'm there when I'm doing my weekly shopping. I just don't buy any (dishware)because I don't have the room to store them and DH thinks I'm looney. :)

I do like doing the table and vignettes but my family doesn't get all fancy and I feel kind of dumb at times. Not so much with my own but this dinner was with the In laws. They're nice people but I really felt silly once everyone got here. Dh said him Mom commented on the centerpiece but I don't think I was in the room at the time. Oh well, I have fun doing it! I wanted to gussy up the tables more but refrained. Do you guys set all the silverware out even if you're not going to need all of it?

I'll make a point to come by more often. I do enjoy seeing everyones tables and stuff!

Shee...I thought I recognized those plates. I've seen them on Ebay..for so much more. Wow..oh Wow..you got a fabulous buy. YOu should keep your eye out for more. They really are very lovely, and can be layered to look different each time for different occasions.
LOL...I did notice > NO plastic covers!! I don't get too crazy anymore worring about cleaning up spills. I do just as you did by putting them in the wash right away.
I think everything looked really nice. I especialy liked your Bunny centerpiece. I enjoy setting a nice table or doing some special decorating, even if it's just for me and DH. He used to laugh, but then got used to it and now enjoys it. So, don't feel silly. Once you have kids of your own, you'll enjoy doing everything even more, with and for them. You'll also be starting a 'Family Tradition' of your own with them too..and this they will Always remember.

Shee, nice to have you post with us again. You did a lovely job with your Easter decor for your tables and island. Everything looks festive yet not over the top - so I don't think you need to feel "silly" at all. As Jane said, if you just keep doing it, others get used to it and will actually expect it. They will look forward to seeing what you "create" for next time. (at least, that is what is happening for me with my friends/family).

As for silverware, I set out the basics of fork, knife and small spoon even if they won't all be used, however only set extra salad/dessert forks/spoons or soup spoons, etc if they are needed.

LOL! I too noticed no plastic covers and agree your tables look much better without them. I find the tablecloths nowadays (even cheap ones) don't seem to stain as badly and things come out quite well. Though, I do usually look for inexpensive tablecloths so I don't have to feel bad if there is something that won't come out.

I wonder if we are failing as "enablers" when you are able to "walk away" for awhile...LOL! Or maybe, that is the only way to prevent the "addiction" LOL! I should have got out sooner...

Shee, I'll just bet that your MIL thought your tables and centerpiece looked really nice. Wish she would have commented directly to you about it, it's always nice to get a compliment.

The other's are right, your family will start to look forward to seeing your pretty tables. You are lucky that they are easy to please, that way whatever you do will be appreciated. ;o)

Slinkey - Thanks for the compliments! You have a point about having my own family someday and starting our own traditions. Kids are starting to finally look pretty appealing to me!

DD - Haha it's too late for you all! :) You guys are a super nice bunch of people here.

Lynn - Thanks! For everyday use the round table is great but I'm glad we have that extra table and room for when company comes.

Luvs - I think my family is starting to look forward to seeing different centerpieces. I just don't want his family (or anyone for that matter) to feel uncomfortable at my house like it's too stuffy or something. I don't think it is and really hope it never comes across thay way. Example, when it was time to eat, everyone just stood there like they didn't know what to do. I had to go over, grab a plate and lead the pack! Haha. I guess you had to be there. It was a weird, awkward moment.
