Earth Day Table

In honor of Earth Day, I decided to decorate a table. I have a banquet tonight, so I pulled this together this afternoon.

Tomorrow, in honor of Earth Day we will not cook in a small effort to save energy. We will have salad and sandwiches and green sherbert for dessert. I haven't decided on the sandwiches. I would do cucumber and cream cheese, to have a literal touch of green, but DH and DD would boycott. So, therefore, we will settle for the dessert. I also wanted to use my small juice glasses that match the footed tea glasses. I got these when I married 36 years ago and rarely use them. So, I decided to pull them out.

I was rooting through my dishes this morning looking for greens that would go together and decided that the sunflower plates would be okay with this odd shade of green dinner plate. Then I realized that I didn't have a centerpiece. I tried several other green containers and finally chose one and headed to the Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby to look for something to fill it. I stopped by the Crisis Center TS and found this cute sunflower arrangement for $8. It was begging for a new home.

I am headed to the campus to see some of the Earth Day events that start this evening and then on to my end of the year banquet for my student staff. It is hard to believe that we are almost through with this school year!

That centerpiece is just wonderful. What a find you made with it. And I think your table-setting is quite lovely.

Earth Day Table - what a great "holiday" to make a tablescape for and what a great job you did, Printer! I love sunflowers and with your colourful SF plates and centerpiece, your table looks very "alive". The green swirl on the dinner plates does have a kind of "earth" feeling to me somehow and with your pretty green glasses, you have managed to display a very appropriate tablescape for the day. I loved hearing how you plan to eat "green" too. Good for you, doing your part! Thanks for sharing!

The green in the swirl plates is really much closer to the color of the glasses than it appears. It sort of washed out and looks muddy in the photos.

I work at a college part time and the kids are SOOOOOO Earth conscious. I have to admit that I usually am not, but they are getting to me. I was thinking about what to do with decor and tables and decided this day deserved its due also.

Nice tablescape PD, good find on the flowers to go with your dishes. Sunflowers are my favorites--right after roses! ;o) I really like those swirl plates too and they do look "earthy". So glad you decided to decorate for Earth Day! Luvs

Nice table PD. The soft green colors are very pretty, and those Sunflowers make it all 'Pop' nicely.
