Hibicus Table in progress

I wanted to do a table using my hibiscus salad plates, but don't have everything I need yet. So here's a pic of the basic setting with make-do stuff. I think I'll switch to gold flatware.

Sandi, that looks good! Great color combos, and the nap, rings and candles and glasses pick up the plate color. Good job!

sandi, I just love your plates, so pretty and also your stemware. What a beautiful color, wow! The grapes and candles add a nice touch also. The beaded napkin holder is nice. What if you picked up the napkin by the center and then slid the napkin holder on it? Sometimes though if the napkin is a thick one, it won't lay as well and the holder gets 'lost'. Just a thought... but your tablesetting is very pretty!

Just happened to think...after seeing the grapes, it seems like I have seen the grape napkin rings at Walmart which would go nicely with the grapes and your French Country look! :)

Looking very pretty, Sandi. Your stemware is perfect with the plates and so is the candle color. You are getting pretty good at making beaded napkin rings now too. ;o) Luvs

Kathleen, Thank you. That setting gave me fits looking for something to use with it. I just don't have anything in those colors around here. It's shopping time!

Mary, And thank you. I redid the napkin as you suggested and it looked much nicer. And thanks for the heads up on the grape napkin rings at Walmart. I haven't seen those, but I'm going to check them out.

Luvs, Thank you. I didn't make those napkin rings. A friend sent them to me. A very nice surprise!

I like what you've done so far. The grapes are a nice touch also.

What a lovely table Sandi! I really like the combination of colors you used. Could you post a close up of the glassware? I would love to see them...looks like a beautiful color.

Tammy and dreamgoddess, Thank you both. I'm still thinking about what I need to buy to go with the plates.

I bought these glasses 20 yrs ago at McRaes in MS. They were labeled "peach". You can see with the true pink showing behind them they look a little more peach than they really are.

Sandi, the dishes and the glassware match so nicely. The napkin rings and candles fit in very well too.

I am not so sure about the tablecloth, since you are going for a tropical feel with the print of the dishes, the cloth's design is a bit off with those dishes, the cloth's flower design is a bit more traditional. I myself have mixed styles in my dining room, with me having pictures and colors on wall and drapes not neccessairly matching my table design, but when doing a tablescape, what you put on top of your table will matter to your overall tablescape design. Even though there is the peachy color in a few of the flowers on the cloth (perhaps you we going for a color match there), it/the peachy color in the tablecloth) still doesn't help with furthering your tropical dish designs because of the more traditional looking flowers in your cloth as compaired to your dishes. I hope you don't mind my saying this, I have a very difficult time in commenting on someone elses work if I have differing thoughts with the OP.

Oh, boy, I am in trouble. I thought the cloth looked good, and told Sandi so. I think it looks nice. What do you think should be used??? a solid? I see the green in the leaf, and the rust picking up, and leaf and leaf.. I am usually so safe, read plain, I like to see it mixed up a bit. Sandi, put a solid under there so we can see what it would look like, please?

Kathleen, this is a copy of my thoughts from my above response:

"Even though there is the peachy color in a few of the flowers on the cloth (perhaps you we going for a color match there), it/the peachy color in the tablecloth) still doesn't help with furthering your tropical dish designs because of the more traditional looking flowers in your cloth as compaired to your dishes."

Again, please keep in mind this is only my opinion, and I am NOT an expert, I was just offering my thoughts/opinion.
It does not make it correct...., this is why I hesitate to offer a different thought on peoples creation.

Most important if you the "OP" and others like it, then that is great, the whole idea is to please yourself. :)

You asked "what do I think should be used?"
Answer: I think the wood of the table is fine, if one doesnt want to use a tablecloth, if one wants to use a table cloth, then use a color matching of one of the colors in the plate. IMHO

Oh, we know it is just an opinion, that's what we all have..just opinions! LOL I also think sometimes in RL things look different.
Right now I am ironing a pink cloth that I thought would go well with my pink naps, but I don't know. I might have to camofl it with a lace overlay..

I loved the pattern tablecloth since it picked up the color in the dishes. Tho I didn't think it looked "tropical", and actually I liked it didn't for my tastes. such as they are, LOL.
