More little blocks

I made these little blocks our of some ole 2x2's we had laying around the shed. Letters are cut using the Cricut--it sure makes cutting letters quick and easy! One is for patriotic holidays, the other just a seasonal one for summmertime. Luvs

WOW! Those are great, luvs! Great for vignettes or t'scapes centerpcs! Like how you stacked them, too! Did you ModPodge them over your painted blocks? TFS! Jeanne S.

I love anything that smacks of July 4th decorations. So I really love your latest signs.
I guess the letters just stick on, right?

The way you've tied them with ribbon reminds me of how people group old books.
I'm thinking you could spray paint old books and put new seasonal titles on the spines.

GREAT idea of "old books," OA! Please try it for us, luvs! I think that would be really cool, too! Jeanne S.

vgery nice Thanks for sharing with us

Jeanne, yes, the letters are just mod podged on top of the painted block. I think I can keep adding more layers of the mod podge till the surface over the letters is smooth if I want--just not sure that's really necessary for my own use. Soon I will invest in some vinyl and letters cut from that will lie much flatter.

I have some old books around that I had picked up planning to paint on the fronts, so I could try that OA. I remember seeing a cute Halloween decoration that was books with scary titles painted on the sides--always thought that was cute.

Minnie, you are welcome--just glad to have you coming by to join us again. I mostly post my little creations just to help us stay busy on here--no fun to come and not find something to look at, right? ;o)

I am so jealous of that cutting machine, but I refuse to start anymore hobbies or crafts. You are really doing some cute things with yours.

Frou, I'm just trying to come up with things to make so I can justify buying it! LOL

I really think I'll enjoy doing the vinyl, I'm seeing so many uses for it! Lots of tiles or plaques to sit on easels, labels for jars, words on walls, etc. But many things I'm seeing require additional software and stuff--I really don't want to get too much invested in it since it's just for fun. ;o) Luvs

Those are wonderful signs Luvs! To think they are made of scrap 2x4's which we always have a lot of.

I had hoped to get a Cricut on our trip but between this and that didn't. So I'll have to check them out at Michaels or online. I'd really like one of those toys! ;-D

I love them! How wonderful the partriotic one would be on a tablescape..hint hint! :)
Great job, Luvs, and so glad you are having fun with your new toy!

Thanks Kathleen, I actually made that patriotic one thinking I could easily add it on a tablescape. Have a few other patriotic crafts I want to do as well. I love doing things in red, white and blue--just such pretty colors to work with.

LG, just keep an eye on the Michael's and Joanne's sale flyers--I got my "little bug" for $85. Allot of the gals on the Cricut message boards are trading in their little bugs for the big expression so there might be some good deals on Ebay too.

Thanks Jaybird, I have allot to learn still, but it is a fun toy. ;o)

Back again. Guess what? I gave the little patriotic one away to my neighbor! Here's my story: Today an underground transformer blew up and our whole neighborhood was without electricity. Neighbor on the corner came around and invited all of us for an impromptu barbeque at his house--so we all threw salads together or grabbed whatever we had on hand and gathered at his house. This neighbor is a contractor and my DH had mentioned to him that I use allot of wood scraps for my crafts. He asked me what I use, so I told him I've been using the 2x4's and 2x2's lately, and I took the patriotic one to show him--then decided to just gift it to him. He said he is always burning or throwing scraps away so will save them for me now along with some fence board scraps for garden signs. Isn't that great? I'm a little concerned that he might come up with more than I can keep up with! LOL (Oh, our lights got restored about 6:30--but we stayed and partied until around 9 anyway!)

Your blocks sure turned out great.
What a great neighborhood you live in!! It was perfect to gift your project to the host of the impromptu BBQ.

I'll keep that in mind should our neighborhood go with out power sometime. What a great way to get to know the neighbors a little better with out the pressure of hosting an out and out party, or preparing that perfect something for a planned pot luck or even worse: trying to figure out what to wear! Everyone just grab and bring what they have on hand and come as you are. :)

Luvs, more wonderful crafts you came up with and great story to go with. Your such a sweetie! You will just make more gifts to give away knowing you, if your neighbor sends to much wood your way.

Thanks Punk, glad you enjoyed seeing them. That's part of what I like about doing crafts and painting--usually always have something on hand when a gift item is needed! ;o)

Melvena, that neighbor loves to cook and to have people over. He has about ten or twelve plastic chairs stacked in his garage and keeps a plastic bin there with paper plates, forks, plastic cups, napkins, etc. in it. When he wants to do a cookout, he just pulls those out along with the grill and long folding table and he is good to go! Me--I'd spend three days cleaning the whole house and cooking ahead of time. LOL

Luvs, wonderful story about the power failure and shows one good turn deserves another. Must be a nice neighborhood to live in. You'll have to let us know what wood treasures you receive and what you do with them. Your crafts are always very inspiring.

Thanks LG, I do feel lucky to have ended up with such great neighbors--never know about that part when you buy a house, huh? Glad you enjoy my little crafts--they keep me entertained. ;o) Luvs

You are so darn talented, Luvs! The new blocks are wonderful!

    Luvs,
I'm like you except I'd spend a week planning the menu and setting the table and shopping.. then the next week cooking and cleaning... by the time of the party I'm exhausted and in severe pain from arthritis.
I've GOT to get a better plan! :)

Hi Melvalena, nice to hear from you again. I know what you mean--I even clean places I know no one is going to look, like dresser drawers--must be a sickness! LOL Really, we should all just relax and enjoy company more. Of course he can get away with not doing all that cleaning and organizing since he's single. LOL

Thanks, Lynn, these little projects keep me entertained. I've got several idea of more things to make soon.
