Help! - Kitchen Appliances Layout

We are currently building and the cabinet guy & builder told us that they were worried about where we planned to put the refrigerator in the kitchen. We had originally planned to put it on the wall closest to the breakfast room, but with the wraparound bar, they were afraid if would crowd the walkway. Here is the placement they suggested. I think it will be ok - what do y'all think? The pic shows cabinets to the right of pantry door and Ref to the left. The cabinets are actually a wall of cabinets (pantry style - with no countertops). This is a rough draft I drew, so please excuse the errors. Each block represents 2 ft.

I'm not sure I'd like how that would look, with the large/tall refrigerator in the middle of that counter run. I'd try drawing up the elevation to see what you think,

A couple of other concerns: when the DW door is open, will it be comfortable to stand at the sink or will the door crowd the spot in front of the sink?

How will you vent the cooktop? Do you have seating at the island? It looks like there is no room behind the cooktop to prevent anyone from getting splattered/burned.

I played around with some different layouts, but I'm not an expert. I'd highly recommend posting on the kitchens forum and considering their advice; there are some very good layout folks over there.

Yes there is seating at the bar.
And, there is a wall between kitchen and LR. Cooktop will not be open behind it and will have a vent hood over it. The wall will stop where the wraparound begins.
I'll try the kitchen forums too. Thanks!!

I have to agree with the above poster. I would move the dishwasher to the left of the sink. Three appliance crammed into the same area might make working difficult.

Is there a counter to the left of the fridge or is that also a wall of cabinets. If it's a counter, I think the fridge will be fine.

Can you recess it (take some space away from the mudroom lockers and push the back wall for the fridge back)? Then, you could put it where you want, it won't protrude into the walkways, it won't be the focal point, etc. Is the wall load-bearing?

If your drawing is mostly to scale, it *probably* won't be visible from the foyer. Your original location for sure would have obscured it from view of the foyer. And, obscuring the fridge from the foyer is a nice touch (not a deal-breaker, but I don't feel like the fridge is something my friends all need/want to see when they enter the home.)

I'd actually consider swapping the location of the wall ovens with the fridge... Not really as convenient for quick snacks, but kids won't be in your work zone anyway. Ovens aren't open for very long, and since your cooktop is sheltered by the angle, that would probably be my second choice to your original plan.

If you still are having trouble with this I would suggest taking the time and sit down with a local home depot and lowes they will design your whole kitchen for you for free just take a quote from them even though you are not buying it the beauty of the software they use you can have a 2-d and 3-d views of the plans this will help visualize the over all layout and they can do a couple of designs for us. When we build a home we have our clients sit down with our kitchen design center they will layout everything for you and even come to your home put tape down on the floor to show you the walk ways work area you will have sometimes it is hard to visualize all this with out these methods
