Hi All )) A Quick Hello

Hi Everyone...I just wanted to send a quick hello with an update. I didn't 'fall off' the Holiday Site!

It's been a whirlwind for a couple of weeks, and I haven't had a chance to check in. Had my 4 GKids here for 8 days while my DD moved and got everything settled in for them.

Then, I had some surgery from which I'm still recouperating.

I've been tired and sore, but coming along.

I will try to keep up with your posts..sorry I haven't been able to join in. I did check briefly. Forgive me if I don't address all your posts.

Lynn...My heart felt thanks and appreciation to your son, for his service to our country, and in keeping us safe.

Betty..Congratulations on your New Grandson.. How wonderful..what could make us happier!

Your little 5 yr old is a darling little guy.

Mo13.. Hang in there. Hoping all is well with you and may you have a quick recovery.

Kathleen and Lynn..beautiful 'Redos' on your Kitchens. You both made wonderful changes.

Well...I'm 'pooped'...but I will check in again when possible.

Jane, I hope you're feeling ok and that your recouperation from surgery goes quickly and well. Eight days watching grandkids? Oh my goodness, as nice as that sounds, I'll bet it's very tiring as well!
We leave tomorrow early AM to take DS. I'll pass a long your kind thoughts and good wishes.

    Hi Jane,

Glad to know you are on the road to recovery. I love my GKDs, but I'm always worn out when they leave! God knew what he was doing when he made us to have our kids young!!
    Get well soon!

    Hi Jane,
I was just going to email you to see how the surgery went..
I couldn't remember exactly when it was. I mentioned it on a thread here to keep good thoughts for you!
    You must be exhausted!

Thanks for giving us a shout, Jane. It's been quite awhile since we've heard from you. I'm sure you enjoyed your grandkids visit, but are relieved to get back to your normal routine too. Hope you recover quickly from your surgery and feel better than ever real soon. Luvs

Hi Everyone, sorry I took so long to check back in here. At the end of last week, having a case of cabin fever, I thought I was feeling pretty good to go to the store, with DH driving. Bad idea...when I got home I was hurting, went straight to bed, around 7 PM, and didn't get up until 11 AM the next day!! DH said he kept coming in to check on me and was thinking about putting a mirror under my nose, just to check (he's a kidder). Well, I'm still kicking, however, whenever I'm on my feet too long, I feel just awful and need to rest.
If you're wondering what kind of surgery ... Seems what I thought was my usual Kidney/Bladder Infection (history of em) this time, was blockage in my kidney. The blockage was removed and then a stent was inserted from my kidney to my bladder. This new 'do dad' will be with me for a month. along with lots of pressure, burning, fatique, and running to the john every 15 mins. (and being told to drink A GALLON of water ea day) >>> I'm not such a 'Happy Camper' :@

However, I AM looking forward to feeling better soon (I hope)..because BEFORE all of this fun stuff took place...
DH and I made plans to go to Cape Cod, for a few days,
and bring my oldest Gson. I'm so excited to bring him.
That's in about another week and a half...so I've got to Toughen Up and get on with the program!! :)

Thanks to ALL who offered kind regards.

jay..thank you :) btw... I'm enjoying those bowls immensely!!

Lynn...Glad all went well with your son. You must be so proud of him. As hard as it was for you and your family, I'm sure your support, and respect of his decision to go, is so important to him.

betty..you are sooo right about God giving us Children when we were young.. And as far as our Gkids...when we are at our Weakest..they are at their Strongest!!

kathleen..thank you for thinking of me and for extending 'Good Thoughts' my way. Yes...I'm exhausted. I guess my body's not that 'spry' thing that it used to be... Geeeezzzee

Thank you Luvs...I'm making my way back..slowly but surely.
I'm glad it worked out to have the surgery AFTER my Gkids were here...whew!!

Mo..thanks for the speedy recovery wishes.
I hope you are doing well and are on a 'Quick Mend'. Don't over do it..like me. I know it's easier said than done..but it does set you back some when you try to do too much too soon.

    Thanks again All...

Girl, Don't you try to travel too soon. REST,REST,REST!

When DH was crushed in that machine at work last June, his left kidney was mashed into 2 pieces. One half is dead. They also had to put a stint between his kidney and bladder on that side because that tube was ripped.
He was finally out of the hospital when they took it out. He went to the Dr's office and they took it out there. And DH said it didn't hurt. Said it felt weird, but no pain.

He had been through sooooo much trama and pain for months and I was terrified. I wanted him admitted and knocked out on some gooood drugs before they touched him! I even tried to get his surgeon to override the urologists's decision to do it in the office. ( By this time I had watched him suffer so much for so long that I was VERY overly protective.)

Anyway, we went to the office. They made me leave the room and maybe 2 minutes later Alfred was walking out all smiles. Man! Modern medicine!

I shared all of that to say this- Take care of yourself and do every little thing exactly like the Drs tell you to and you will be better for it in the end. And to tell you how easy it was for him taking the stint out.

Also, I don't know how much it will help kidneys and bladders, but 1,000 mgs of vitamin C a day has revolutionized my life. I stayed in the urologist's office with urinary tract infections when Alfred and I first got married. I suffered greatly and often for several years until one of the guys I worked with told me that his wife's urologist told her about the vitamin C and how it had helped a lot of his patients. She tried it and it worked for her. I started on it that very day. Haven't had a single infection since. Any old generic brand works. Something about the natural acid in the vitamin C kills whatever causes the infection. Try it. It made a believer out of me.

Good luck to you, Sweetie. ((((HUGS))))

    Oh Betty...Bless your sweat heart!!
I remember reading about Alfred's horrific accident, and the nightmare he and you went through. What an agonizing and amazing road to recovery. I'm sure every day is a Blessing, that he's here and is doing so well.
Now...here you are like a (Guardian Angel) with your loving advice to me!! I hear you Loud & Clear...I know what you mean about rest ...NOW I do! lol.
Actually, I have started my vitiman routine again (including C).. I know it's something I should not be lax on and you're right, I've heard very positive info on UTI, with it.
I've had Kidney/Bladder problems since I was a kid, and it just became a way of life with me. Also, having Lupus, doesn't help either..it's wreaked havoc with my body.
You know how it is..You tend to everyone else, but when it comes to You ..there's no time. What usually stops Me, to focus on 'Me' is when it Brings Me Down!!
So 'Dear Angel'..Thank you again, for your loving advice and I will try keep it all in mind.

Jane, so sorry to hear about all your troubles and surgery. Take care of yourself - I know its not easy to just sit and do nothing but try to give your body the rest it needs to get better.

Wow, Betty, you are one brave lady!! And Alfred is very lucky to have somebody like you to take care of him. Every time I hear Alfred and your story, I am totally inspired.

    Slinkey,

I'm sorry to hear about your recent troubles. I guess as we get older we find we're not what we used to be!

Your DH sounds great but you know he'll be happier when you're feeling chipper again. Do get your routine back on the vitamin C...I think nutrition and supplements are really underrated by most doctors.

Good luck. Relax and rejuvenate, and enjoy that beautiful home of yours.

Slinkey, I am so happy that you are doing better---just don't overdo it at this point.

Life has had me swamped for the past several weeks, but I just popped in for a minute to check on everyone. I'll be back later. Things should be settling down here now. (I Hope)

Slinkey, I am just now trying to catch up with posts, I've been missing in action a lot lately. I am so sorry for all you're dealing with. I hope you can go on your vacation and enjoy it, but also hope you take good care of yourself and don't push it wanting to DO things. (I know how hard it is to behave that way, LOL.)

    hugs, Karen
