May your weekend feel like a holiday...

Sorry, was trying to keep the theme going. :-)

Just wanted to wish everybody a nice weekend! I've been trying to pull together a new table setting for late summer/early fall using some jadeite and turquoise fiesta ware. If it's successful, I'll try to post pics.

Mostly, however, am looking forward to going to a Greek food festival nearby. Should be whole tables of wonderful pastries... Mmmm...

(And really, with whole tables of pastries, I can't be picky what the tablescapes look like. :-)

Anyway, hope things cool down for folks having a heatwave, and everyone has a decent, relaxing couple of days.

Well I had a nice day. It was our summer party at work today. One of the guys brought in his smoker cooker and did up some smoked turkey, ham, salmon and trout. Along with corn on the cob, potato/mac salad, ziti with sausage and peppers, chocolate pie desert, cookies, chips, dip, etc. Our parties are always the best. I like them especially cause I can bring home lot of goodies and not have to cook all weekend and it will definitely feel like a holdiay!

Thanks, Jenn. We have the last of 3 Aug weddings. My 3 gkids, 6, 3 and almost 2 are in it as well as my ds and his wife. It is her sis who is getting married. So it should be interesting!!
I can't believe 2 more weeks till Labor Day...wher did the summer go? It really only starts here in June...but September IS the best here. The tourists go home and the weather, barring any himmacanes, (why do they have to be HER..equal time) is the best!
Jay you are so kind....I do hope I get to meet you someday if I get to TX to see my sis.
Crafty Lady, that sounds like fun! Hope you got lots of goodies to bring home. BTW I posted the crab recipe on the other thread.

    Thanks Jenn!

Crafty, what a wonderful way to have a work get together.

I am pretty sure I am going to have wonderful weekend! We finally got the closet organizers here to put in our closets and I can move my clothes to the new 12'by10' closet!. Due to our remodel/construction my clothes have been stored in our barn since Aug/Sept '06. YEAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And I am finishing canning my first bushel of tomatoes today! I love canning and this time of year!!

I'm having a nice weekend. DH got back from Florida today, and tomorrow is our family potluck. Sure looking forward to meeting two more great nephews who have been born this past year. Also will get to see my brother, it's been quite awhile since we've seen each other. And he is bringing me a little table that my Grandfather hand made for me when I was little. He saved it for me thinking that I might like to have it for my granddaughter to play on. Sure hoping the majority of the family get to come, will be nice for all of us to be together again. Luvs

Wow, sounds like lots of great events were going on over the weekend! (And good food abounding!)

I came back from the Greek festival with a big box of homemade pastries... baklava, diples and all sorts of other goodies... SO much fun!

Michelle, I totally understand the joy of closet organization-- it really feels good to have that sort of thing out of the way. I recently got rid of all my tangled and flimsy wire coat hangers and replaced them with these great flocked velvet sturdy hangers that work perfectly. What a difference things like that make!

I hope everyone will be okay, safe from Dean.
