Rosemary, what color is your grout? My white grout is so dirty from using too much water when I cleaned the tiles in the kitchen and I can't seem to get it clean without getting on my hands and knees.

Would the Scooba help clean the grout as well as the tile floor? I really want this but DH thinks it would be another piece of junk.

My grout is a very light beige, I believe it is called Antique Ivory. Scooba did a good job on the grout as well as the tile but I have to admit my grout wasn't too bad to begin with.

Have you tried ZEP mildew and mold stain remover? You spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes and it can whiten the grout. I got it at Home Depot.

My DH wasn't that enthusiastic about it either but he never mopped a floor in his life so I just bought it. He did say after he saw how good the tile looked that he thought I got myself a winner.

P.S. I never used water on my tile. The installer told me to use Windex or some kind of window cleaner on them. Using water and vinegar eats at the grout. We buy the Window cleaner concentrate at Home Depot and mix it up ourselves. A gallon lasts forever. I used to spray that on the tile and then mop but now with Scooba I won't be doing that anymore.

I LOVE my Scooba! It does excellent work because it really sucks everything up leaving truely Cleaned floors. I ran around with white towels on my feet trying to help, Not Needed! The white towels remained White! Worth every dollar for the pleasure of seeing my sparkling 'white glove test' floors! Not saving me much time because it's such fun to watch it go! Someone here suggested Finazzle for grout. It works very well, but you must apply it by hand as far as know.

i have both now -- roomba and scooba. I wouldn't trade either of them in for the world. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming take up a lot of time and you can't really multi-task with any of them. so turn em over to the 'bots. definitely. get a roomba. and then get a dirt dog for your dh...i'm thinking about it.

as far as a fav roomba model, i have the discovery and have had no problems although i have to say, i'm a bit jeal of scheduler. irobot has a number of holiday specials going on right now like get all three for one great price.

Rosemary, I'm so glad you posted about Scooba. I was going post asking about it.

My house is also tiled, the kitchen is more work than I can stand. I was worried that the Scooba would skim right over the top of the grout....like every thing else I have tried.

If I had all the money I have spent on various products (that didn't work), money wise, I could have all ready bought the Scooba.

I was given the Scooba for Mother's Day and I love it. I had some initial problems getting it to work properly and the technical support people were very helpful. Then I (stupidly) left the machine charging too long but since it was still under warranty, I was sent a replacement battery plus a piece that will let me charge it for 2 weeks.

My grout was never sealed properly so the Scooba doesn't make it white but it cleans the tile floors as well (or better) than I could by mopping.

I highly recommend it.

I was supposed to get the model for the garage as a freebie with this. They were out of stock and sent me a Roomba instead. But since I have a Dyson which I'm very happy with, I haven't yet opened the box to try it.

If I got on my hands and knees I'd do as well as scooba. I have all tile on my first floor.

You can use their cleaning solution or just vinegar and water.

I have only used the Scooba solution but am wondering if anyone has used vinegar and water and if that worked as well as the Scooba solution.

That looks like my Scooba but I didn't get the bulb which is an important item nor did I get the mat. But mine was buy one and get another item from the company for free.

I bought a Roomba 535 from Home Shopping Network a few months ago and I totally love it. It is the newer technology, and I learned from a Roomba forum elsewhere on the net, that the 500 series are much quieter than previous models. We have FIVE boxer dogs and the Roomba runs here everyday.

On November 20th Home Shopping Network had a Deal of the Day on Scooba, and it was only 199. They offered a model, specific to them, #335 that has a battery that will allow it to do up to 500 square feet. I LOVE my Scooba too.

Hammecker Schlemmer is a great place to buy though because of their incredible warranty.

These are the best things I've gotten for myself in years.

By the way, the newer batteries in the recent Scoobas and Roombas allow them to be plugged in all the time (no worries about overcharging).

I am now a Clean Floor Addict! And, what's better, is that is all happens while I'm doing my quilting! (:

One more thing. Scooba will clean with 2 ounces of White Vinegar in a tank of clean water. Additionally it can run on water alone. That's all though, other cleaners will not work.

But does it do as good a job with the vinegar as with the solution if the floor is quite dirty?

I haven't tried the vinegar yet to compare. However vinegar is a great cleaning agent and I bet it does just as well. I have read on Roomba Review of others using white vinegar and loving it, however they do say that the smell lingers in the air for just a bit. Some people don't like the smell, others aren't bothered by it at all. It does dissipate fairly quickly they say.
