Fall Table

We had my parents over for dinner last weekend. It was a very rainy day and seemed the perfect weather to get cozy with a fall tablescape and candles. Here are a couple pics I snapped in a hurry, kind of blurry as I tried not using the flash but didn't have enough light. Nothing too fancy as it was a last minute idea to have them over.

Ooops! I see now that I took this picture after DH had removed the red wine glass from this setting for a pre-dinner drink.

The centerpiece was a footed glass bowl (Partylite years ago) filled with faux leaves weighed down by decorative black rocks. Floating candles and leaf-shaped confetti float on the water. I wrapped a leaf garland around the base.

I used faux pears to "prop up" the placecards, I made a tossed salad served in the pumpkin bowls to start then Seafood Lasagne and broccoli/cauliflower and Chocolate Lava Cake with strawberries and ice cream for dessert.

Anyone else done any fall tablescapes yet? Last week was cold and damp but this weekend it is sunny and warm and makes me think of doing one last summer-scape. Will have to see if I have the ambition to do that or just lay in the sun!

If any of you have missed some of my other tablescapes, here is a link to my blog.

I've tried to transfer them over here but the spacing and font doesn't copy and paste very well so it is best if you check them out there.

Really pretty, As always, your photography is great, and I don't think it's blurry at all. I just love fall colors. Your whole look with the deep rich colors and the candle light looks so cozy and really elegant too. Love the pears.

I'm making myself wait another couple of weeks before I start decorating for fall.

I have been in search of some orange plates. I saw some at a Home Goods in CT last spring, and have been kicking myself for not buying them.

    Thanks for sharing. - Gail

Beautiful! I love fall, but am trying to hold on to summer, if that makes any sense :) The pumkpin soup bowls are adorable. The rich gold and reds are the perfect nod to fall decorating. Hope you had a grand time!

I love all the rich colors you chose DD. Everything looks so warm and inviting. Your family must have been surprised by an 'Early Fall' dinner. I like your idea using the faux pears for your place cards. I also like how you put your centerpiece together. You always have such creative ideas.
Our weather has been getting chilly again, and some leaves are starting to come down, a little at a time. Seeing your beautiful table, inspires me to get my Fall things out.
    Thanks

    DD,

Pretty nice for something you just threw together at the last minute! Shows what talent can accomplish. It would take me all day putting things out and taking things away to get a tablescape like that (if I could).

    Good job as always.

What a treat to see some Fall colors while still in midst of one of our "endless summers". You table is lovely as they always are! I am hoping to get out my Fall decor soon, and pretend there is such a thing in Phoenix. LOL.
Your table and a rainy day sure make me green with envy.

DD, that looks really nice. I'm with the other's who said it takes some talent to put something that pretty together quickly. Can't go wrong with candlelight, and those orange pumpkin bowls are always a winner. The menu sounds yummy too.

I'm with Gail--holding off for a couple more weeks on the Fall decorating. For one thing, we are having a neighborhood yard sale and I don't want my wooden signs and things out on the patio and gates until after that.

I keep meaning to get by your blog more often, I have it in my favorites. I'll have to head over there to see if I've missed any pretties.

Thanks Gail! I know that feeling of regretting not buying the pretties you see at HomeGoods (HomeSense for me)! I am always doing that. We don't have that store locally so it is always when I'm out of town on a shopping trip that I go there and get so overwhelmed wanting EVERYTHING and trying to "budget" my spending money, that I have to pass some things up and then regret it when I get home.

Bonnie, thank you! I thought the pumpkin bowls were great when I first got them a few years back but now that I've seen the white ones out there, I want them!

Jane, thank you for your compliments! My parents were happy for the invitation to dinner and we had such a lovely time just enjoying the coziness of the evening inside and each other's company.

Thanks Magpie! I like to be able to "throw together" a table without much notice as with DH's job, we end up doing a lot of our entertaining on the spur of the moment. My favourite though is when I do have ALL DAY to PLAY!

Karen, thank you! This summer has been very nice for us too and seems to be lasting into the fall. We did appreciate the rain last weekend especially with all the forest fires around the province.

Luvs, thanks! I guess we feel more "fall-ish" here sooner than you do not just for the weather but our Thanksgiving is the 2nd Monday of October. That makes me think I have to get the fall decor up in time to enjoy it awhile plus I will be decorating for Christmas in early to mid November as we have decided to host our Christmas Wine Tasting Event again this year. Good Luck with your garage sale!

    That is beautiful, DD!

It is still warm here, AC going..and lovely at the beach.

I am starting to think about Fall, but not till next week!

Summer's last hurrah this weekend...then on to Fall...

Very pretty! I love rich fall colors! Can't wait to get my stuff out this weekend and start decorating. :)

    Pretty..pretty.....I love fall!

DD, the weather here is perfect for a table like this. Very warm and cozy looking. I love your pumpkin bowls! I really like your idea of weighing down the leaves - I was wondering why the leaves werent floating also. I might have to steal that idea.

And your seafood lasagna sounds wonderful. Btw, DH made crab last weekend and I kept thinking of that lovely tablesetting you did for a crab dinner a while ago!

All the stores have fall things now. I love the colors. It's my favorite season. Don't really have a fall here in Southern California, but I was raised in an area that had real seasons. Fall is the most beautiful, I think. Your table reflects that.

Thank you, Kathleen! It is now almost Fall, are you ready to let go of summer now?

Thanks, Sheesharee! Hope you will share some pics of your fall decor with us.

Thank you Jay! I love fall too!

Mo, thanks! Those decorative rocks/pebbles come in handy for all sorts of things! Did you do a seaside 'scape when your DH made crab?

Thank you OA! I really enjoy the rich colours of fall too and at least you can enjoy the decorations even if you don't really have a definite change of season.

I've never done any kind of table settings like most of you have, and I do have enough fall things to do one. I think yours is beautiful!!! I don't see where they are blurried at all, and I love the colors.

Donnas, most of us had never put much thought into doing our table settings either--until we came here! Now just setting the plates and silverware on there just won't do--we have to pretty it up a bit more! LOL

Pull out some of your pretties and give it a try--or just do some arrangements on your coffee table or kitchen counter--amazing how it adds to the decor and to your "fun". Be sure to share pics with us too, okay?

Thank you Donnas! Luvs is right, just give it a try. The main thing is to have fun doing it and not compare to others or worry about what anyone else thinks. You will be surprised at what a "hobby" (addiction) it can become!

Your last minute table looks so pretty! It would take me several weekends to do.....thanks for inspiration.
