Wreath Stand question

It's officially Christmas season, all my Christmas catalogs started coming in today, along with online stores for their Christmas merchandise too! lol.

In one of the catalogs, they had the prettiest wreath stand which was sitting on the mantel in lieu of a nail. This one was pretty expensive, about $70.

So I did a google search and found a lot of wreath stands, and the majority of them (in various heights) are around $15-$20 dollars. Different colors and "finials" on top.

I want to use a stand on my mantel, are they very sturdy? Our mantel is high up because we have an XL fireplace. The good thing is The Cat hasn't even tried getting up there. Yet. :)

What do you all suggest? They even come in white!

I bought one at a craft show last year for around $15 and it is fairly heavy and very sturdy.

However, later I found one on Tenderheart Treasures that was adjustable in height. I wish I would have gotten it instead because I think it would work better for various sizes of wreaths. I'll post the link in case you'd like to see if they still have them.

Good luck in finding just the right one for you.

Your fp is so massive, Oakleyok, that you're going to need a very large wreath and wreath holder if that will be the main focus up there for the holidays. For a fp that big, your accent pieces on the mantel need to be BIG, to keep everything in the proper proportion. BTW, have you shown the gals here your FP? I think they'd better be able to advise you if they could see a picture of it. As for how sturdy they are, I have no idea myself. As pretty as some of them are, I've never used one myself. I usually just hang wreaths on my doors and, occasionally, in a window. Do you think your kitty can get up that high??? I have no idea, as I've never had a cat.

Thanks for the link Luvs. I couldn't find the wreath stand for sale in the picture. I did order one today but not as nice from Kruenpeeper Creek Gifts. I could always use two, and I hope I can find one as nice as the stand you showed me.

Lynn, the space between the mantel and ceiling is 43" because the ceiling there is at the slant.

I have a question, the sprays that are put above the inside windows, how are they attached to the windows/shutters? I'd like to find some holders that won't take paint off the shutters in the room.

Here's two pictures of the FP. The first one is when we lit our first fire before the floors were installed. Mantel wasn't decorated. It still isn't because I ran out of knick knacks! lol

The TV in this picture isn't that big of a distraction, but it looks like it is in the picture.

I bought one in Michael's last year...It isn't very heavy ...I don't think I would trust mine on my mantel...
I guess you have to get a really heavy one!
Like those trees for outside your door. I brought mine back to Michaels after they blew over for the 10th time!

I bought my wreath stand at Joann Fabrics...it is pretty heavy and stands about 27" tall.

What about making a BIG wreath using one of those extra large grapevine wreaths as it's base and propping it up on the left side of your mantel, Oakleyok? Tha way you can use a couple big, chunky candleholders or lanterns towards the other side. Like that, you can still add something in the middle.

Lynn, I've already ordered the wreath and I think it's an okay size. I have a wreath on the FP now and it looks good, but I'll keep the wreath stand up all year for the various wreaths I intend on getting. :)

I've got to watch my spending, now that the house is done, I've ran out of things to decorate with. lol We do have an old lantern though, so I thought I might put it on the mantel at Christmas.

My QVC bulb wreath came in today, I'll take a picture of it later. It's not the one that will go on the mantel.
