Turkey Dishes?

I've noticed all the beautiful turkey dishes and platters, and it's made me want to start collecting some. I'd like to choose a pattern that's relatively easy to find and not too expensive (something I could pick up at Homegood's, Marshall's, T. J. Maxx, etc.). I'd prefer the Autumn colors rather than the red or blue transerware. Do you have any recs. for me? Thanks!

Cindy, I don't have any turkey dishes myself, but I'd definitely keep checking at Marshalls for some.
    Good luck!

Last time I visited Marshal's, they had three different patterns to choose from. Might start there and see if your's has them too. Good luck, and be sure to come share pics of your finds with us, okay? Luvs

I agree with Luvs...when I was in TJMAX a couple of weeks ago ..I saw the Queen's Myott Turkey Plates. They were just putting them out. They had three colors, one of which was the Brown, that you are looking for. They were in packs of 4 Dinner Plates $12.99 and 4 Side Plates $9.99.
LIke Luvs said..if you get them...come back and shre your pics.

Guess what? I stopped in at Home Goods today and not only do they have two patterns of brown/white turkey plates, but also some blue/white turkey dessert plates too!

I saw so much stuff I liked in there today--but was on a mission to find birthday gifts, not things for myself. They had huge gorgeous roosters, some items with acorns on them especially a soup tureen that was really calling my name, (maybe I can hint to DIL that I want it for Christmas)and lots of really cute Halloween things too.

I haven't even put up all my decorations inside yet so don't know what I might need until I do. I'd better stay out of those places for now! LOL

I'm just BOO-HOOing because I have to travel 2 hours to get to a Marshall's. With DH's 76 year old aunt (who is in bad health) living with us, it is nearly impossible to get there. No Home Goods anywhere around and of course, no Christmas Tree Shop. And I'm soooo wanting those white pumpkin soup bowls from there. I know y'all are sick of 'hearing' that by now. LOL

But, I will hit the T J Maxx after taking "Auntie" to the Dr today. She is so sweet about waiting in the car for a little while, letting me do a quick run through. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Her favorite saying is, "I've never seen anyone who has as many dishes as you do!

If I find any treasures I will share pics.

The only Turkey dishes I have are a set of 4 Turkey soup bowls I found at TJ Maxx last year. When I got them home one of them was cracked. They were the only ones they had that day, so I kept them and will use them for salads, being careful to put the damaged one at my plate with a clear glass bowl inside.

    The pattern is Spode Celebration.

Also, DH gave me a white Martha Stewart turkey platter for Christmas last year that I had admired when we were in Macys. No pic. Just solid white with the turkey pattern raised. That is the extent of my turkey things.

Betty...I love your turkey dishes. That happens to be a really nice pattern. Some I've seen, I don't care for.
As for those Pumpkin Bowls, they usually sell real fast at CTS and are hard to get once they're gone. They had two sizes a small size - about 1 1/2 cup size (pictured on the front hall table) and then there are the larger ones (pictured on my Hutch) about 2 cup size. If so...how many do you want? I'm going to the Big Flea Mkt this Wkend and I'll be passing the CTS... I'd be happy to check for you.

I love your turkey dishes, too, Betty! I'm heading down to town tomorrow to run errands and now you all have "made me" put TJ Maxx and Marshalls on my list, too. You all are soooooo enabling ;^P

I have to say I drool over everything at Home Goods but have never visited a Marshalls! And, we don't have a Christmas Tree store that I know of in central Indiana. And, I have to go to Indpls. (1 hr. away) to visit the Home Goods. (Which is probably a good thing!) You all have me needing to make a trip soon. However, I have seen beautiful dishes at Pier One and Hobby Lobby! Will be going tomorrow with my DH to the Indiana Covered Bridge Festival which runs for 10 days! So much to see and the treasures both new and old for my house and garden are endless! I'm looking for turkey plates now! And, thanks again for welcoming me to this wonderful forum!

Love, love, love the dishes. Just like Betty, I'm live a ways from the city and never seem to be able to get there. It's most likely a good thing, it keeps from buying too much. The local flea markets are bad enough.

Betty, love the turkey pattern in your bowls. And I'll bet your big white turkey platter is gorgeous too. I sure hope someone can find you those white pumpkin bowls at a good price. I bought the orange ones a couple years ago so will have to stick with those, but I agree, those white ones are so pretty.

Jane, I just saw your other post offering to pick up some of the bowls for me. Man, I hope it's not too late.

You are such a Sweetie to offer to go to all that trouble for me. I'll respond here too to cover all the bases. :o)

I would love 4 of the larger bowls, if there aren't 4 large, I would love 4 of the small ones, or I will take 2 of each. I love them so much I'll take what I can get!! LOL

Thank you soooo much for doing this for me.

And I'll be hunting for a good pumpkin or fall type soup recipe in anticipation!

Cindy, I hope you will be able to find what your looking for cuz we sure love looking at tablescapes.

Betty, Love those turkey bowls you have and so happy for you that Jane will try to get you some white pumpkins. I need to quit coming here before all of you get me hooked on tablescapes. LOL

If you have a Old Time Pottery close by they have a few different turkey dishes.
