Shoot, I just saw that thread this morning. I would have loved to join in, but probably can't get the book in time now. Maybe next time.

dreamgoddess, go ahead and get the book, I think that you will be able to catch up, I don't think we will be going that fast, I will be giving time for each assignment, so I would thing a few days or so for each assignment (trying to give everyone enough time) and we will have discussions, so you will still be able to join in.

Yes Dreamgoddess....I will be gone for a few days so I will probably show up in class about the same time you get your book....we can help one another catch up!

I suspect I'm going to have to catch up, too. My book isn't even SHIPPING until Mon Oct 14th.

I got mine... with shipping it came to 17.99 total...

I was looking at it on the porch and showed it to a friend who stopped in. She said although the Tgiving table was beau., it made her feel claustrophobic! LOL

I'm seated front and center with book in hand ready to start. If you don't hurry there will be drool all over the book!!

I'm happy to see you all checking in.

jaybird, pdg777 and others that are late starters, don't worry about being a late starter, the "class" can go on for a good while, just post to the particular "exercise" when you get the book and I'll go thru it when you can post.

Betty, LOL, I know what you mean, Ms. Garrity is doing another Christmas book, not out till next year, and since that is my fav holiday, I will be suffering before I get it LOL

Kathleen, poor thing, well different strokes for different folks, but have no fear, hopefully those that take the class will get the basics of learning how to "see" the designs and can incorporate the the lessons learned to make vignettes, tablesetting in ways that please them. And that is what this is all about, doing designs that please you.

I am ready! I can't wait for this to start! The build-up is amazing!

    Hi Judithva,
My book came on Friday...I'm rairing to go!!!

So does this book have a good amt. of vignettes too? Honestly the only reason I didn't buy the book and was going to try and just observe was because I don't really want to get into tablesetting. Trying to stay away from the buying of dishes.

However, for the few occasions I may host something...

my first holiday meal hosting ever will be this Thanksgiving. I plan on using my island like a buffet. Would be nice to know how to decorate it up.

Sheesharee, no, this particular book doesn't do vignettes over all, except for a odd one here and there, which I will go over if people want me to, otherwise it is 98% tablesettings.

Although, some of the principals of vignettes is the same as the tablesettings (for example the table centerpiece). So you could in essence still follow along.

Perhaps you can borrow the book from the library (no cost there), that way you can still learn some things that will also apply to what you are interested in.

Here are a few books that offers more vignettes (click on link below.)

Specifically, I would say there is a good amount of vignettes in the following books:

    Christmas at Home
    Style at Home
    Decorating Secrets (lots of vignettes)
    Feather Your Nest

Shee, good luck in thinkig you can hang out on this forum and not get bitten by the dishaholic bug! LOL

I added quite a bit to what I had after coming here, and am constantly wanting/resisting buying more! Setting pretty tables is just so addictive and fun! ;o)
