Range hood questions

I'm looking for help with a range hood question:

I currently have an old NuTone 250 CFM undercabinet hood which is ducted into my basement. I want to install a new hood (because I am planning to get a new 30" gas range - think BlueStar, although not sure) and duct it to the outside.

The hood is on an interior wall. The duct run would be about 11' from the existing location to the exterior of the house and the duct has to run horizontally. I am thinking it would be concealed in a soffit above the cabinets. I am not doing major renovations so this all needs to be done within the existing space - I currently have a good 18" above the cabinets so I think there is plenty of room.

It's a 30" hood. The lady at the appliance store said that even with a powerful range a "normal" undercabinet hood would be adequate. (I'm not sure I believe her.)

I'm looking at the Zephyr Hurricane because it seems you get a lot of CFM (695) for the money, but am open to suggestions.

My questions:

How powerful would the hood have to be?

Does it have to be more powerful than usual because of the length of the duct run?

Would I need some kind of "booster" somewhere to make this work properly?

Do you think the Zephyr Hurricane is an appropriate choice for this application?

Thanks very much!
