Big, fat cloche...

OA asked the other day about cloches. Yachter said she paid dearly for her large one..

So, when I was in AC Moore the other day, I saw this. Now I haven't even washed it yet, and haven't figured out what I will use under it, but it is big, and wide, so there are a lot of possibilities,,,I just plopped it on top of a glass cake stand/pillar holder, and put my Nativity music box under it to take the pic... This isn't a good pic, but you get the idea..

It is really a candle hurricane, but flip it over, and it will work as a cloche....Best part...about 6 bucks! I thought it was 15, and had a 55% off coupon but it rang up 5 and change and the 55 off came off another item...:)

It is 12 in high, and about 10 at the base, but balloons out..I like that I can use it as a cloche or a candleholder..

Kathleen, I've seen a blog where the lady did something similar with a sort of bell shaped candleholder/vase. She had glued sort of a bell shaped item to the upside down "top", and it really looked like a cloche too. Luvs

Great deal, and like Luvs I had seen someone add on a crystal knob if I remember correctly to give it the cloche look.

Yes, I have been thinking about what I will put on the top. I bet I even have something here I could use...

Luvs, you mean I didn't INVENT the idea??LOL!
It just struck me when I turned it upside down to see the price...and it was a good deal..

A small glass paperweight might work for a knob. That way, you could just sit it on top without the worry of it rolling off. Then remove it when you turn it right side up to use as a candle holder.

Is this a good buy? It would cost me $15 to ship regular post.

Here is a link that might be useful: E-bay cloche

    Oldalgebra,
I think you can do better if you have a Homegoods store near you (Marshalls and TJMaxx)

I would agree with Kareen, that is where I found all my cloches, I recently seen one at Ross Dress for Less store.

    O-key doe-key. Thanks for the heads-up. :-)

OA, I just got back, we left this morning to go see my 4 little grandkids...
But I agree with the above. I think you can find one in Marshalls or Tj Maxx for much less...
Thanks for the paper weight idea. I was thinking museum wax so I could use it as a candle holder too. I just saw such a pretty arrangement in one in th Pottery Barn email. It takes up so much space, I want to be able to use it for many things!

OA, the price on the eBay cloche wouldn't deter me, but the shipping sure would. Outrageous price on that. I have looked at Ross, Marshalls, and Home Goods here...off and on since last year! And NO cloches! I so want one of these big bell jar ones. Guess we just keep looking, huh?

    hugs, Karen

    Yes, keep looking, Karen!
I posted this on Yachter's post where OA asked about cloches. This is bell shaped...
Is this big enough for you?
I just stuck 2 of my sitting crows in it so you could see

I found the cloche at Pfaltzgraff, it came with a cake stand and it was under 15.00.
Maybe you could still get it there, and I think they were offering free shipping the other day..

It looks just perfect to me, but I couldn't find it online. Woe is me!

I found it OA, in the clearance section...12.96..scroll down pretty far...

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It will be on its way soon!
I like the look of the cake stand too.
    XOXOXOX

You are so welcome...I had emailed you the link...
    Glad to enable!!

Kathleen, you invented the idea on HERE! It's actually a great way to get multiple uses out of those big glass candleholders/vases.

OA, I hope your cloche arrives safe and sound, aren't these gals the best "enablers" ever? LOL

    Luvs

Luvs, the only thing I invented is an excuse to why I need a cloche!!LOL..
Yes, I hope OA gets hers in perfect shape. Better Pfaltz packing it than me. I am not good at it!

That is exactly the one I want.....
    where's the link????

    hugs, K

Nevermind, I googled their site, went to clearance and NO cloche. Maybe they just had the one left OA got.
I about have decided Fate doesn't want me to have one.

The crows your friend gave you are so cute in the cloche. Gosh I wish that there were cloches back in the stores like there were last year, they were everywhere! Now they are hard to find, as I had mentioned before, I saw one recently at Ross Dress for Less, and I was surprised, but you never know, they may be back in the Spring.

    Purplemoon,
The cloche is still there. It's called Metal Stand with Dome. You can also search the page using its cost: 12.96.
I sent you an email too.
    Goo luck, OA

HA, Karen, the cloche fairies want you to have it!
Sometimes they have a better deal on shipping if you want to chance it and wait...
Or you could spend 100 bucks and get it for free! LOL

J, I took the crows out, I just put them in for demo purposes. And they kept squawking in there...:)

GOT IT. THANK YOU, OA. I had seen the little photo of that metal stand with dome and didn't open the big picture since that didn't look right. I was looking for 'cloche' or bell jar. Whew, good thing you guys watch out for me at times. Kathleen, I decided to pay the shipping, LOL. I don't think my DH would appreciate me spending $100 to get it free.
You and OA did great at Enablers R Us today.

    hugs, Karen
