Fall Decor #2

As I mentioned in my other post, Sat was a real Rainy day, as you can see in the picture below. It's a view from my eating area off the kitchen. We usually see lots of deer and Turkeys...but last week, we saw a Coyote!

Check out that tree in the distance. The leaves are just starting to turn.

On Friday, there was an Estate Sale near us. An old house that was being cleared out. Things were a little too pricey for me..but I spied a couple of old dirty dishes.

Upon looking closer, I saw there were two very old dinner plates, and three cups and saucers ... Johnson Bros, Friendly Village..in Perfect condition... and the asking price was $5 for All!

I couldn't believe with all the other prices being so high that they let these go for that price. Well, anyway, here are two of the cups & saucers. Which I didn't have any of..I just have plates and bowls. So, this was a nice addition for the price.

The Iron Bird Basket was a gift from my friend Nancy who I taught with. It was filled with fresh flowers, and now I get to enjoy it with whatever I want, to put inside.

Looks real huh...nice faux fruit!!

Hope you enjoyed my 'Fall Rainy Day' shots. Tommorow, I'll post some more..don't want to wear out my welcome...lol

Such a cute table vignette, so warm & inviting on such a rainy day. Those cups & saucers are beautiful & a steal!!

What a lovely window setting! I'm sure it's so relaxing seeing the seasons change and all that wildlife. Although, I'm not sure how relaxing a coyote would be!
That was a great find on the Friendly Village dishes. And the wire basket would be so versatile.

That is one of the coziest and most lovely little table settings I've ever seen. It just looks...I don't know, I guess it looks perfect to me. I'd love to sit there and watch the rain out that window. Beautiful. - Gail

    Jane,
I love the table setting, I second Gail's opinion. A cup of coffee and a tart, what could be more perfect than that? I love the rain anyway, and the wonderful view!

I don't know about the faux fruit, though. It looks so real, reminds me of "I Love Lucy" and the wax fruit episode!

Don't you just love a rainy day when you can stay all cozy and dry inside and enjoy the views?

What a deal on those dishes. I love ANYTHING 'bird', so you know I'm wanting that basket! What a great friend to give you such a special present.

I don't know about the coyote, but I know we have bears, LARGE bobcats, and a mountain lion has been seen in our area by at least 2 people at different times. My grandson who was 4 at the time helped me plant some tulip bulbs one day and I used some fish emulsion in the planting hole to give them a good start. The next day the hole had been dug up and the bulbs thrown out. At first I thought the squirrels had done it because they are very territorial, but the bear tracks all around the hole told a different story. This was so close to the house that you would hit the house if you threw a rock. I would never let my grandson outside to play without me right there with him.

My daughter is my closest neighbor with just some woods between us and our 2 youngest sons 12 and 14 at the time were walking back through the woods road from her house and a bear came out onto the trail between them. He looked at them and snorted and turned and went back into the woods. THANK GOD!!!!

That was a little too close for comfort!

Thanks everyone for such nice reviews!!

yachter... I really wasn't looking to add cups and saucers (because I don't use them) to my collection, however, I couldn't pass up such a great buy.

cindylouhoo... quite honestly, since we've seen that coyote, I don't go out to the garden, w/o really looking around. I'm always figuring when I'm bending down, I'd be a 'great snack' for someone!! lol

Gail...it's one of my favorite spots too. I love reading there (lots of light) and, I can also see the Road and cars that go by...When they do!!

Magpie...I had to laugh at what you said about 'I Love Lucy' episode!! I remember that and it was funny. My GSon, who is 5.. asked to have some, and I had to tell him that it wasn't real, he looked puzzled and said, 'Why do you have Fake Fruit' !! I'm thinking,..in his mind.... 'Crazy Grandma' !

Betty...that really scares me about the bobcats and bears, and what a close call for your Gsons. I'm always looking in the woods for stuff like that. We read in the papers here that there have been Bear & even 'Moose' sitings!!
DH always teases me when I go outside.. to 'Look Out For Bear'...I shudder to think about it.
I imagine you have to be so careful with your trash, etc., and in the winter especially, when they are looking for food.

Ahhhhhhh . . . what a wonderful warm and cozy spot to sit! Your view is so beautiful, Jane! I love rainy days, especially when I can sit a spell and read. That spot of yours is perfect. You got some great buys at that estate sale and your vignette with them is lovely! And your fake fruit does look so realistic. I'm loving the basket your friend gave you. What a great piece of art to change with the seasons! Love it!

You could not have painted a better view, the little barn is perfect. How lucky you were with the dishes, that pattren has never been my favorite, but now I want some too. Goes to show that all you need is the perfect setting to change your mind about something. Syble

I swear these pictures should be in "Country Living" magazine! Love that little red table and what a cozy spot for a cup of tea!

So glad you found the cups and saucers at such a great price, I agree it was too good to pass up and they look so perfect in this setting.

Loved reading everyone's comments, so fun. ;o)

I was going to say exactly what Luvs said! That first pic looks like it should be a postcard! Lovely!
