Fall Decor # 3 (Pic Heavy)

A few more pictures... This is in the Fam Rm. My Mantel, which I kept kind of simple this year compared to last.

I think you all remember that Box from last yr. I got it at CTS on Clearance..(slight damage on top in the back) for

I seem to remember $6.

DH isn't too keen on this guy ...says he looks mean and ready to 'Strike'! lol I like him tho

coffee table...that pumpkin bowl is a neet place to hide candy!

Dining Room..

Great Buy this Summer,(slow time) on Ebay. Friendly Village Large Platter - for $15.

I know...you're probably thinking 'Another Tureen' yikes!

but then I don't think I have to explain here... Right? :)

I love that little tureen..another gift from my friend Nancy..(Betty I know you're 'eyeing' that bird).

Seems to be a Welcoming custom here in New England.. fruit and Pineapples.

That's it on my Fall decorations. Now I've got to work on some tablescapes, to catch up with all the beautiful ones I've seen you guys do.

Jane, your hutch is gorgeous, I love how big it is. Your decor is so warm, so cozy.

That is so cute to put the fruit above your french doors and I love all the white accents you've used in your fall decor.
I keep meaning to pick up some white pumpkins & didn't get around to it last year.

Am I the only one who did Halloween first & then fall later? Hope someone else is doing Halloween too!

    Jane,

I wish my HOUSE were as together as yours--it's so beautiful. I love your "big bird"--is he ceramic, or cement, or metal, or what? I really like the finish on him. The whole ambience of the house is wonderful.

    Jane,
Simply bootiful, all of it. I like how you decorated your mantel and like your spray above it, looks very fallish. Your fruit in your dining room picture even goes well with your your platter and tureen filled with gourds. Are your gourds real or artificial? Love the platter.

Your hutch looks great and I love the white pumpkin on there with the white tureens and pedestal with fruit. Your just great at decorating and have a beautiful home.

Your blue platter reminds me of the blue willow dishes we used when I was growing up. Wish DM would of kept them but she gave them to a family in need so that's cool.

If it's a Welcoming custom in New England to have pineapples and fruit then everyone who comes to visit will feel at home when they walk in and see your fruit above the door and your picture in the dining room. How nice of you to add that to your decor.

I love everything about your home, Jane! It's beautiful, warm & inviting and so New Englandish. It could easily be a magazine spread on Autumn in New England. I love how you've decorated it for Autumn. Love your bird and all your pewter, too. I remember that box on the mantel. What a great find! It's perfect for your house. As for your hutch, it's flat out gorgeous and works so well in your lovely dining room. When you get time, would you please take more pics of it ~ and any other room in your beautiful home~ to show us? On this gloomy, cold, rainy Fall day here, looking at your pics is like sitting in front of a warm cozy fireplace.

Wow! Your home and especially, your decorating is so tasteful and classy, Jane. It all looks so perfect, cozy and welcoming. I really like how you did your mantel, and the "mean" bird looks perfect on there! You really have a talent for displaying things "just right" and I love the picture with your tureens and dishes in the cabinet. I'm sure I'll come back to this post again to just enjoy each picture some more. ;o) Luvs

Thanks everyone for such lovely comments. As far as my home looking so 'New England'... I'm just the 'Runt Of the Litter' here!! I'm surrounded by many Historic Homes. In fact, a stone's throw from me, is a town that is known as The Antique's Capital of New England. It's filled with New England Antique Shops and many beautiful Old New England homes. We usually go on their Christmas House Tour, and I'm just blown away by them. Many of them have actually been featured in Country Home/Country Living and Colonial Homes. Each one more beautiful than the other.

yachter...As for being the only one with Halloween..you're a 'Step Ahead' of us. I'd better hurry to catch up. I'm looking to do that next. It's such a short time period and then it goes back in the bins. It's good you've got it all out and you can enjoy it longer.

Magpie...as far as my home being 'put together'..I'm here three years..you're still setteling in. Before you know it, your home will be all set and lovely for you to enjoy.
Just think...of all the fun you'll have this Holiday season, taking out all your goodies. I'm still green over your Pantry Room!!
The bird...actually is a Large Pheasant and is made of resin. He looks like wood. He has lots of detailing, which is lost in the photo.

punk...Funny, that Blue Willow reminds me of my Mom too.
She always used it for Holidays and special occasions. I don't have any of hers either. My dad hasn't offered it, and I'm reluctant to ask.

Lynn...I don't know if you recall me posting some pictures last year, on the Home Decorating site of my home.
I did have some of the Hutch. If you're really interested, I can post some. I saw that Hutch at the 'Big E' (New England's State Fair),in Mass. It was love at first site. I ordered one and it took 6 Months to be built and delivered. It's all solid cherry, even the Shelving on the inside are huge, finished, solid cherry slabs. I just love it.

Luvs...glad you like my 'mean' bird!! My little Gson is fascinated with him..I really thinks he's afraid of him. lol

Thanks again everyone. Now I'm looking to catch up to you guys, with Halloween, and your lovely Fall Tablescapes.

You're so right! That bird perched on that tureen top is soooo cute.

I thought I had found one Saturday when my niece and I went antique/junking, but when I snatched it up for a closer look, it was a bunch of grapes that were shaped so that it fooled me enough to get my heart racing. :o(

Luvs took the words right out of my mouth- Tasteful & Classy.

Any magazine would be lucky to feature your home. Please post a link to more pics.

I love the fruit over the french doors. With my energetic bunch of DGSs, the door slamming would bring them tumbling down!

BTW- I've been looking for a pheasant to use on a tablescape, but your's does seem to have a mean streak showing in his eyes! LOL

Betty I actually Laughed out loud, and DH looked at me, as I read about you snatching up - what you thought was a 'Bird' but was actually 'Grapes' !! Too funny.
I've got to post a picture of that Pheasant, all by his
'lonesome'... so everyone can Really See his Full Body and His Pose. He does have an 'Arrogance' about him..LOL

I love the whole thing!! I jumped up mid reading and ran and copied one of your displays!!!
(the little wood basket filled with tiny pumpkins and leaves)
I thought to myself: I have this little fall cloth square basket and the tiny pumpkins and leaves!!!

TADA! now I just need to find a place to put it...

    Thank You!!

Wow, I dont know how I missed this post. You have such a lovely home, Jane! I dont have any soup tureens but the more I see yours, I think I need some. The little tureen with the bird is beautiful. And your hutch is to die for!! That little white pumpkin is perfect for that spot. I actually put something similar to your dining room table centerpiece on my living room table. I need to take some pics soo before I change the decor to a traditional Indian style for a festival we have coming up.

I was reading your comment on being in the house for 3 years and therefore the house is put-together. I have been in this house for 5 years now and I still dont think my house has come together! :) I think it has more to do with your knack of putting things together than the years.

melvalena... so glad you got 'inspired' to make your little basket...that's what I love about this site, everyone has so much to offer. Everytime I see what someone has done here, it gets my creative juices flowing !! lol
Hey, even if you put that little display in the Bathroom it would work. Let me know where you put it and MOST of all, post a Picture...we love pictures, and your picture might inspire someone else!

Mo..thank you, and yes, Please Post Pictures!! We're waiting on you. Your tablescapes are always so cretive and enjoyable. Just like I told Melvalena...YOU might inspire someone too. Also, about the tureens...it's NEVER too late to collect them. There everywhere I go, and the problem with that, is trying NOT to buy them. It's like when I was collecting Teddy Bears...everyone I saw, called to me, to take them home!! LOL

I agree with what the others have said. Your home is so beautiful, the Fall decorations are lovely, and that huge hutch is FABULOUS.

    hugs, Karen

I'll repeat what others have said, your home is so warm, inviting, tasteful, etc! I am in love with your hutch. What a great find! I know it must have been hard to wait for 6 mos. to get it, but so worth the wait! Your mantle is lovely, and the pheasant is great. Your basket and bowl filled with gourds/leaves is such a nice accent, too.

    Ditto what everyone has said.
Your home is lovely and decorated so tastefully!
Your pieces are beautiful and you display them in such an attractive way!
Just lovely, Jane! Warm and welcoming!

    Thank you Kathleen..
You've been 'Missing In Action' You must have been very busy...or taking a 'Well deserved rest'.

Jane, I don't know which to comment on first - your lovely home or the equally beautiful decor. I keep going back and forth looking at all your pics again and again to make sure I don't miss anything.

Your mantle, hutch, and tables look great. The pewter is a perfect complement. Very upscale-looking. (That is a compliment, btw.)

    I love it all!

I just noticed my previous message.
    mantle? Mantle?
    Good grief! It is m-a-n-t-e-l.

Thanks Lee for the lovely compliments. All of my Pewter, are TS and Flea finds...the best way to go!

    As far as Mantel spelling...
    No biggie...except for the 'Mantle/Mantel Police' !!
I've actually seen it spelled both ways.
    I spell it > mantel.

Jane, did you get my emails?? I had to reply to you through the blog..it's the only addy I have since my horrible Dell episode..email me so I can enter you in my puter, please..

I had the painters here till Thurs. Fri we left and were gone till Sat evening for a funeral.
So I have been putting the dining room back together....washing everything in the china cabinet, etc. takes forever as I have to be so careful...

I posted a pic of the new color on my blog..but now I want to buy or make new drapes for the French door...and I have to do a new centerpiece etc. One thing begets another!

No Kathleen I didn't receive any emails..you can get mine here, by clicking on my name.

I just visited your blog...you must be so relieved that all that work is done. I think putting everything back in the China Cabinet is such an awful job as well. I've gone through several of those 'redos' in my old house..and it was always right before the Holidays. Such upheaval to everything.

When you're all done...you have to post pictures again.
I'd love to see it. What a difference new color and moulding makes. I'd still check out some toile fabric..they have nice soft greens. JMO .. lol
