Candy Christmas Decor

I was doing my usual eBay prowling since I can't sleep and looking thru the Dept 56 Village stuff this time. I was so surprised to find they have a whole vignette with Gumdrop theme. Really cute. Also pretty dang expensive, the actually building anyway. Its a Gumdrop Factory, but it's adorable. The accessories that can be bought are gumdrop trees, gumdrop street, some of these light up too. There are two cute elves who are "gumdrop tasters", LOL. They were the only people for this vignette.

Anyway, here's the link to the eBay auctions where you can see all the gumdrop items if you want. Kind of fun to see I thought and I don't even do the candy decorating. LOL

hugs, Karen

    Karen -

I love these!! I could stay on Ebay 24/7... Last year I discovered the Dept 56 Krinkles collection. I fell in love! They are so very fun and whimsical and that's definitely my style of decorating for Christmas and Halloween.

I also wanted to tell you that in one of your posts, I read about your son, Jason and so I looked on his website and read about his story. I was so amazed at his courage and strength. He is truly a HERO! I simply cannot imagine what he and your family went through. I was also touched by how his wife stood by him through it all. What an incredible journey.....hugs to you!!

Thanks, Dawn. I'm always proud to share Jason's story, he's my Hero for sure.
As for eBay, love that place. I do some selling on it, and of course buying. And have met some of the greatest people over the last 8 yrs too. Several went on to become good friends. Funny how you can just "click" with someone, like it was meant to be.
On my many sleepless nights, eBay is a great distraction. I love looking at so many different things. Also enjoy the site of Goodwill that is run the same exact way. I've bought some great things off there, and they pack stuff the best I've ever seen. UPS should take lessons from the Goodwill packers. LOL.

you wrote "UPS should take lessons from the Goodwill packers." UPS doesn't pack what people send - they only send it. what does one have to do with the other?

Columbus, Not true - they packaged some things for me last year at my local store. : )

Karen, thanks for the link! You are always so kind and helpful!

Columbus, there is a packing store here for UPS but actually you are quite right. I kind of messed up my metaphors a bit. I should have said that "Goodwill packers do such a great job that even UPS can safely deliver them".
I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a box that looked like it was dropped kicked. Oh, then there was the box that had TIRE TRACKS on it. LOL. I rarely ship with them myself any more.

As a manager/partner for 30 years at UPS I have never seen a package with tire tracks on it ( if it was an envelope then most likely it was a slide mark) BUT UPS doesn't package your mdse. THOSE stores that do are a franchise store. Notice they also ship using other shippers as well. They take on the responsibility and you pay the added cost for the packaging they offer.

The average person takes mdse - puts it in a larger than needed box - stuffs the box with newspapers then uses duct tape ( or some other less than appropiate tape) to put it all together and then wonders why the box got crushed when it was placed in a truck along with a million plus packages per day in the US. I assume they think that each pkg gets its own seat and is driven directly to its destination. Even if it is going cross country. I bought an item on ebay - she assured me that she would pack it accordingly, in a shoebox with tissue covering it. Of course it was broken to pieces. and while I suspect that it may have been broken before it went in the box ( this way she blames UPS and files an insurance claim) she said that she made sure that it was well protected.

I've seen the packages that were bought over the internet from warehouses( Best Buy - Walmart - TRU ) that were sent to them by their makers and were damaged on their end of the system, but when your picking up truckloads of boxes we don't go thru them until they hit our sorts. At that point we take responsibility for it - we still deliver them as we don't really know what the condition of the item is until you tell us.

I totally understand where you're coming from - I ordered glass christmas bulbs from Bonners. I choose regular ground service, to save money they sent it USPS - they say they delivered it. But with no way to track it they don't know to what address.

Boy, our nice, fun, holiday forum is sure changing suddenly. Lots of new names popping in which normally is wonderful and just adds to the fun--but this post seems to be heading out of that realm.

We come here for FUN, so could we please get back to Holiday decor and ideas?

You're right, Luvs. I do apologize for offending anyone with my comments. I certainly did not mean to stir up trouble. Lets get this post back Candyland decor only.
