Turkey Surprise!

You may have seen my decs with some turkey S&P shakers. The pieces were given to my mom by my grandma (my mom's MIL). My mom decided I "needed" the set for the boys to enjoy! Of course, I agreed. Although the boys idea of "enjoying" things can include touching & playing with it. So they are set up high on top of the refrigerator. The only other high place I have is on my kitchen cabinet, but it has a piece at the top that kind of conceals things if they're not very tall. So here's the Napcoware tureen, candle holders, and S&P shakers!

    Cindy..
What a wonderful Vintage Turkey Collection.
They are in such amazing condition. I really like their colors and their shape.
I've seen similar ones on Ebay,(just S&P) and they are very popular.
I tried bidding on a set last year, but they went for much higher than I wanted to pay.
It's nice that your mother gave them to you, to keep in the Family, and for your boys to enjoy.
I would keep them 'up high' too, until they're no longer looked at as toys...lol

I did finially buy S&Ps and a Napkin Holder last year,(new) for my table. They all have a Turkey theme. My Gkids enjoyed them and want me to bring them to my DD's this Thanksgiving..(she's hosting).
So, maybe if you take your's down for Thanksgiving Day... put them on your table...your boys will enjoy that they're there.. Then after Dinner, wisk them away, up high again...till next year.
Before long, you'll be able to put them out, and they will no longer be 'toys'. They will become a nice tradition, and give them nice memories too.

What a nice set! So glad your Mother passed them on to you for your family to use and enjoy. You'll have to pay attention each year to see which of your kids seems to appreciate them the most--so you will know who to pass them on to someday as well. Lynn is right, they can become a part of your kids holiday memories. Thanks for sharing them with us.

That set is gorgeous, and the condition of it fantastic to be handed down for so long. What a great family treasure.
I'm definitely quite envious of this set AND its history.

That's a lovely turkey set and so nice that it's a "family heirloom".

To display things on my hutches I use wooden boxes as "risers" so things are more visible over the crown molding at the top. I've even used sturdy cardboard boxes and small pieces of 2x4 before I collected so many wooden boxes. DH made a few boxes and I've found others at YS's.

Cindy, what a nice collection. That is so nice of your Mother to give them to you now to enjoy. Love the tureen -- he is a handsome guy!

Lucky, that is a good tip about the risers. I like to elevate some things, too. Usually I just grab a book or two; they are very plentiful around my house.

    TFS,

    Lee
