I found these cute snowflake wine glasses at the Dollar Tree this past week. Just sharing in case anyone wants to grab some!

dreamgoddess, I love the snowflake stems. I'll be sure to go buy some. I bought the snowflake glasses at DT last winter and they didn't have stems then. Thanks for the heads up.

I got them a few weeks ago to go with my snowflake table. Then I thought I should have just put a decal on some of the clear ones I have!! That way I wouldn't have to find space for them ....I can bring them back I guess...they are cute!
But I have seen cute decals and any stem would work! I have lots of plain ones...too many...
I am on the look out for some goldish color stems...if you see some please let me know. I have been checking dollar tree, but only clear...

Sandi, I wish DT had the goblets this year. I would love to have some of them too. I'll be on the lookout for them. The DT here where I live didn't have many of the wines...and they really didn't have many after I snatched up 10 of them. LOL!

Kathleen, I'm going to use these on an icy winter wonderland tablesetting. Judith is the inspiration for this tablesetting...remember the large snowflakes she showed us last year from DT? I'm going to be using them on the table as placemats and I thought these glasses would be perfect with them.

Beautiful glasses with the snowflakes, Dream. Thanks for sharing. Since our Dollar Store won't have them, I appreciate Kathleen's idea of putting decals on ones I have - thanks Kathleen!

Yes, Dream, I saw the snowflake setting in a magazine, "Holiday Ideas" it is called, it comes out every year..., and then J showed us her flakes.
I got the flakes last year, but they were hard and the plates slid all over! So this year I got the soft ones...

DD, I think the decals will work...I bet you have many of those inexpensive wine glasses too! So why did I buy these?? They are still hiding in the car!

Dream, do show us your table when you do it. I think I posted mine last year..

This was just one I used for a weeknight dinner...with the snowflake. I still have mag if you need the pic, dream..

    Dream,
Thanks for the heads-up. I went today, as soon as they opened and got 6 stems and 6 tumblers. I'm very jazzed!

OA, you've got it bad! LOL

Oh my gosh, Kathleen. You're not kidding. It's like I've been connected to my long lost cousins. All my friends are much, much, much better cooks than I. But none seem to love dishes and creating table settings like I do. I can just see the where-do-you-store-it-all question in their eyes.
Purplemoon, Luvs, Sandi, Betty, Dining Delight, Prosperity, Slinkey, Tam, you Kathleen, and the others - I'm just so glad I found you all. This month has been so much fun for me.

OA, Glad you're enjoying the forum so much. It is addicting for sure. I'm not a great cook either so a pretty table helps my food look better.

dream, I didn't get stems last year. I got the tumblers. I'm going tomorrow for sure though.

Kathleen, your table was so pretty! I wonder if there is anything that could be put under the plate so it wouldn't slide? I bought the hard flakes last year, and really hate to have to go buy more of them.

OA, you are so in trouble now! Since finding this forum, "break the bank" has become a household phrase for us. LOL!

Sandi, I check DT today...still no tumblers. I'm going to keep looking though.

dream, do you want me to check our DT tomorrow for you? And "break the bank" is the theme around here also. LOL

There is a clearish sticky wax that is used to hold tapers securely in candlesticks. My clear snowflakes did fine on my tablecloth last year. It was just the plate that was slippery. The candle wax would secure the plate to the snowflake and only leave a slight residue, but the plate has to be washed anyway. Just a thought.

DG, try the sticky stuff. I bought the soft ones so I'll give mine to dil to use in the basement as decos for the kids...First I have to find them! The new ones are filed in my trunk, LOL

So in Dec we can do a "FLAKE OFF" since some of us have them, and even those who don't could make them from paper! It would be fun to see what everyone does with the same theme...
I know OA is in, she's got the fever!!

I'm in! I know that dreamgoddess has the snowflakes also. Are you in, dream?

Definitely count me in! I can't wait to see how each of us does this theme. Sounds like alot of fun!

I have some of the wax that I bought a few weeks ago at Michaels...but for the life of me, I can't remember exactly what I was planning to use it for. I think I'll see how it works on holding the plates in place.

Sandi, thanks so much for the offer! I really appreciate it. My son's girlfriend's mother is the manager at our local DT, and she told me tonight that they should have some of the tumblers coming in this week. She's going to let me know when she gets them so I can pick some up.

No fair, Dream, you have connections! :)
While visions of SNOWFLAKES dance in our heads! LOL

Hey, Kathleen, when you said that about the plates sliding, I wondered about the spray on adhesive that is used to hold stencils in place. It should provide enough temporary grip for the plates.

Sounds like I had better get busy and come up with some "flakey" dishes or other ideas so I can play along with all of you.

OA, it is so cute to hear your enthusiasm--exactly how I felt when I first found this place and we started doing the stacked plates and then the tables! So glad you are having fun and enjoying being on here with all of us--you sure have the creative gene, I love all you've done so far. ;o) Luvs

dream, That's a real coincidence...one of my son's ex girlfriends mother is manager of one of our Dts.

I think it's definitely time for me to get some sleep because I'm not thinking straight...hot glue would work also.

Luvs, I had to laugh at the "flakey" dishes! Judith had no idea what she was starting with the snowflakes. LOL!

Sandi, that is a coincidence. I hadn't thought of hot glue, but I bet that would work too.

Time for me to go too...5:00 will be here soon.

dreamgoddes, those are adorable! They had the matching plates at my DS, but no glasses, go figure LOL

Judith, do you know you can order on line from Dollar Tree and they will deliver to your nearest store? You may have to buy 12 though, whatever comes in a case.
If I didn't have such bad luck with mailing breakables I could send them. But with the postage costing more than the item it isn't worth it!

Luvs, that spray would prob work. Does it wash off easily??

Well back for DT and ended up with a ton of stuff. Got the snowflake wine glasses - love them. I am going to do a silver, turquoise and lavender tree this year and they had a bunch of ornaments that I could use so stocked up on them. Also going to do a red/gold tree - bought a bunch of red and gold icicles, some gold reindeer, got red poinsettas that I am going to gilt the edges in gold for filler. What fun...... I will always have my traditional tree with special ornaments collected over the years but I am really looking forward to doing several themed colored trees. You guys are all enablers :):)

I am trying hard NOT to jump onto the dish bandwagon - have no place to store a bunch but I did have to get the wine glasses. The red snowflake dishes at DT were very tempting tho.....MUST NOT GO BACK......

You guys are just a bunch of Enablers! You should be ashamed at the blatant attempt to spend other's money...or do you secretly own stock in Dollar Tree? Yeah, I bet that's it. LOL.
Its not bad enough that last time I was in DT, two of those giant snowflakes for placemats jumped right in my cart...now you want me to go back and watch the glasses do the same thing. It doesn't seem to matter that I don't do table-settings, I just have to read your posts and buy it anyway. I know I could use the snowflakes under other things for decoorating, but what the heck could I use the darn glasses for? I don't need them, I don't want them, I will not set foot in Dollar Tree till I forget this whole post. Oh and then LYNNE, you just had to mention the ornaments to top it off.
I'm having going to have to start collecting $$$$ for the things you make me buy. Email me and I'll send you my address for your donation.

    hugs, Karen

This post is tooo funny!!! Stopped in DT tonite looking for cheap fillers for my garland and saw all the goodies you are all talking about!!! Glasses ... clear plates ... and red plates with snowflakes.. I saw some soft spongy snowflakes too!!!! I behaved but made a list for later.

Wait a minute, mine had the glasses but I didn't see any plates. It's not fair that all the stores don't have the same thing, I'm gonna go talk to my store manager and find out why!

Karen, if that "donation" thing works for you, let me know and maybe I can try it--after all, I'm now on a "fixed" income you know! LOL

    Luvs

Ya'll are too funny! How's that collection going Karen?

Luvs, my income is "fixed" too...fixin' to go to WM, fixin' to go to DT........

I agree with dream. Yall are funny! ;~)

I just left our DT and they didn't have the plates either, but they did have the tumblers & small stems. I already have the tumblers and didn't buy the stems and will probably will I had later. In fact, I might have to go back tomorrow.

Karen, You are too, too bad, girl. I am cracking up over the kitty pic.

Dreamgoddess, my DH would agree with you--everytime I head for the car, he says where are you going shopping now? LOL

Karen, that kitty pic is too cute! Too bad you can still "read" while you are humming! LOL

    Luvs

Dream, I like your "fixed income". LOL. As for how my collection is going, well the plate is still empty but I guess everyone is so busy shopping at DT that they haven't had a chance yet to email for my address to send in their donation.
Luvs, you are so right, I can read quite well while humming.
    Dang.

    hugs, Karen

LOL, love the kittie pic, that is what I do when I take my DD shopping and I have a cart load of dishes and she starts with saying "MORE DISHES!!!!!!" and a big "eye roll" LOL

Oldalgebra, I was shopping today at Steinmart and came across a sign that reminded me of your post. Everyone can cook much, much, better than I can - but I bought the sign to go in my kitchen - it reads: I can kiss better than I can cook! Oh, yeah, I didn't have to cook dinner tonight.

    Paintingfool,
That's PERFECT for me! You just can't imagine. It's PERFECT.

I might have to go to BuildASign.com and have one made up for my kitchen if they don't have any at my local Steinmart.

Just had a thought of what might help with the sliding on the hard snowflakes!

I'm not sure what it is called, we use it on the boat to keep things from sliding around in the drawers & cupboards!

It is drawer liner I think, it's spongy/rubbery, has holes in it & comes in a roll & different colors. I know I've seen it at DT. You could cut small circles of it just to fit under the plates so that they wouldn't show & also put some under the snowflakes if they were sliding.

Do you know what I'm talking about? I can't explain it any other way, but I'm sure you've seen it.

It works great on the boat, it keeps everything in place even with the movement of the boat.

Paintingfool, Your sign is the perfect idea. And no cooking supper? I have to buy one. LOL

Yachter, The drawer liner is a good idea to use over the plastic snowflakes. Thanks for the tip.

I have some. Lori. I will try it and let you know!
It wouldn't work with clear plates though, you'd see it.

Paintingfool, I too love your sign! Too cute! Luvs
