Sharing pics from SA Store

Visited the Salvation Army Store the other day while DH was having his physical therapy. Thought I would share some pics.

Going to use this on my "Flake Off" table. It is tarnished, that's why I was asking about the silver polish. I think it was $1.25.

These were tied up in a plastic bag for a buck. I couldn't really see them too well until I got them home. Thought they were all deer. All of my DGKs are big deer hunters and I thought these would be great on a table for them. Even the 5 year old goes hunting with his Dad! These zoo animals are still cute and the DGKs like them anyway.

Loved the shape of this. Figured I could serve DH a bowl of soup in this with crackers all around.

This wasn't a great buy. I think I got them down to $8, but I loved it and the money they make goes to good causes, so it came home with me!

I have nothing else with this pattern, but I love it! One day I would like to find the name of the pattern and start the search for dishes to match it.

Not crazy about the gold colored things. I don't quite know why I bought them. It was just one of those days where you put everything you pick up in the basket! But, I fell in love with the leaf plates. And I really had nothing in fall colors. Don't you just love those leaves? I tried to fit them in the odd shaped dish, but they are a tad too big. Darn!

There I go with ugly colors, but I love the shape. So what was I to do? Again, I can use it to serve DH soup. He won't care about the color and I can enjoy the shape!

Silver bud vase for $1, 2 packs of the blue tassels with 6 in each pack to go on my tree for $1 each pack (each tassel had a little price tag of $5 on it), and the cute little birds for .25 each.

The beads look purple, but are pink too. These are going in my stash for that pink tree I will have one day.

And you all know ANYTHING blue comes home with me. I got other stuff, too. 4 clear votives with green candles for $1. Large square clear bowl with a tag on the bottom from the yankee candle shop $24.95 for $2.00.

Hope this post wasn't too long. If it causes problems for the ones who have dial-up let me know and I will split future posts up into smaller ones.

You did good. My SA never has anything worth buying. I love the napkins holders.

Yep you did real good!!! That blue is unique and I would have snatched that up right away!!

You did great, Betty. I like the gold colored glass, very fallish, then you can use it for Cmas too!
And the tassels...don't put them away, use them after Cmas as napkin rings...
    Good shopping!

    Betty-
Great finds! I'll probably be going to our SA store on Monday to redeem my $100 of receipts for $10 in purchases (I bought a couple of pieces of furniture there that jacked up my totals). As you have probably gathered I'm a big second-hand fan.

I LOVE your amber/brown purchases! Wait'll next year, you'll be searching around for them use in the fall. I learned to love brown and now I adore it and search it out. I think your brown/tan square plate would make a super base for a fall/Thanksgiving centerpiece. And your snowflake (is it a trivet?) will polish up beautifully, I know.

Great finds Betty! I picked up some really nice Noritake Hermitage 6226 dinner plates and bread & butter plates at St. Vincent DePaul yesterday that I plan to use for Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner plates were $1.00 each and the b&b plates were 50-cents each. When I got home I did a search and found that that this design is retired and the cost per plate plus shipping can be close to $20.00 for each dinner plate! I felt good about my purchase! I also picked up some cute Christmas tree ornaments for 25-cents each. Here is the pattern of the china - it really is prettier in "real life".

Wow betty, you got some very pretty things. Those shaped dishes are very pretty and I do like the amber glassware too. I would have snapped up that Blue too..it's very lovely. I've been searching for more pink ornies...good thing you got there before me!! I used to shop SA before I moved here. They always had wonderful finds. Seems though, that over the years, they got wise to people looking for 'finds', and their prices started to go up. They still had good bargains though and yes goes to a good cause.

Betty, I love your new goodies. You got such a lot and at such good prices. I especially love your new little teapot. That is really pretty. Nice shopping.

We also have a SA store about 1/2 hour from our home. It has been quite awhile since I've been there because Good Will and St. Vinnies are so much closer. I'll have to stop in just after the holidays when hopefully people will donate some holiday decorations that they no longer want. My daughter and I do quite a bit of second hand store shopping plus many garage sales during the summer. Such great bargains!

I want to go shopping with you! You got some GREAT things.
And I'd have bought that teapot too, its wonderful. You made a super haul, congratulations on everything!
Those leaf plates are really terrific.

Betty, What a great haul! I love the plate with leaves on it. And, I've been wanting to do a african safari table for some reason (I have no idea why - maybe because I want to go there). Those napkin rings would be perfect for my table. Since they are not the deer you thought they were you should send them to me! LOL! My thrift stores are so hit and miss. Sometimes the prices are more than if I bought the items new. I've seen DT plates more expensive in Goodwill!!! But, sometimes I find some good deals so I'm always searching. I'm kind of in a "silverplate' stage and I can find that pretty cheap. I guess that is because no one wants to polish it. Again, great finds!

yep, I know about blue....colbalt blue. I am gona post a pic soon of my blue I got the last week or two...probably 30 pieces. I mostly got vases and bottles. Shopped at GW, SA and another store.

Delph, your african themed table reminded me of a really gorgeous set of dishes at our local Discovery Shop a few months back. They had lots of the jungle animals all around the rim and the colors were gorgeous. They wanted $125 for a partial set. I kept watching/admiring them knowing my DH would think I'd lost it if I brought home jungle dishes (and paid that much for them)! They sold--I've never seen any like them before.
Hope you get to do your table, and hope you get to make the trip someday too. Luvs

Betty, you REALLY did GOOD! Everything looks so pretty.

Here is a link that might be useful: could these be the botanical dishes??

You scored big time, Betty! I collect the amber as well as aqua glass(and black)~the aqua is very hard to find. Your SA must be a lot better than most. Your other treasures are very cool, too.

Oh, and if you don't plan on using those pink ornies, you can sent them on to me! ;o)
