Fall Tables Part 2

My son is home from college for Thanksgiving. He is a Freshman at the University of MS "Ole Miss". This table is for him (I could put his food on a paper plate and he would be happy) The place cards look like a lighter blue in the pics, but they are the same color as the place card holders.

That is "Colonel Reb" on the salad plate.

Hooray for Ole Miss! I bet your son got a kick out of that! I see you painted your silver trays blue, cute! And I love the blue glasses! Very pretty...and everything red white and blue you can use for patriotic tables too..
    Great idea!

Kathleen, Thank you. Yes, I painted the silver trays. They are the perfect size for smaller dinner plates and certainly cheap enough. The cobalt stems were bought online 2nd hand and I love them. ME! Loving blue! LOL

DS was more vocal about my Ole Miss table than I thought he would be. He sure knows how to make his mommy feel good. Wonder what he wants??? LOL

I'm ready for the next patriotic table too except I need one of your killer stars and stripes tablecloths. ;~)

sandi..cute job on the table. I think DS made such a fuss not b/c he's looking for something...I think cause he just plain ole misses home and being 'pampered' by his mama!!

How sweet of you to do up a table for your DS. And even sweeter that he appreciated it.

Jane & Betty, Thank you. I had fun doing this table for him. He's such a good "kid".

Sandi, what a treat to find another gorgeous table you've created. Bet you made your son feel really special, and it let him know what a proud Mom you are too! Luvs

Thank you Luvs. DS gave up a dinner invitation to stay home since I had set the Ole Miss Table. I set another table today (pics in awhile) but, he has gone out to dinner. LOL

OA, You must really be a football fan living in CA and knowing that the game between Ole Miss & State is coming up.

I was born & raised in MS and the rivalry between Ole Miss & State is as old as State is (Ole Miss was founded in 1848, 30 yrs before State) and it's the biggest rivalry for both schools. My niece (24 hrs older than my son) is a Freshman at State. Should make for interesting family conversations. LOL Can you tell I'm proud that my youngest is going to Ole Miss? ;~)

This has to be the hardest table I've ever tried to photograph. The cobalt accessories are all the same color and they all look different in this pic. As soon as I saw these hand towels (placemats & napkins) at Dollar Tree I knew I would be setting this table. You can't tell in this pic, but the cobalt in the fabric is very vibrant.

Thanks for the new thread Sandi, I am unable to open the old one due to all the pictures.

That is a gorgeous "college theme" table for your son.

Love your other fall one too, you are so crafty with those hand towels from DT!!!

Hmm, another plaid I like. Guess plaid is now joining PINK as an acceptable color for me. LOL.
What a wonderful, special thing to do for your son. I know he must have been totally surprised by 'his' table. You're a cool Mom!!

    hugs, Karen

Sandi, you are just whipping these tablescapes out left and right gal. Another very pretty one, I love the plaid. So tell me how you turn four hand towels into four placemats and napkins--that's a very clever idea. Luvs

Thanks Yachter, Karen & Luvs. Yachter, I'm sorry it takes you so long to open a thread. I have DSL and it takes awhile for me also. We need to try to remember to keep the picture heavy threads smaller. And Karen, I'm seeing plaids everywhere and loving all of it. Luvs, I just cut the hand towels in half and the napkins & placemats are the same size. The placemats are a little small and the napkins aren't square, but for the little tables for just us it's fine. And at 50 cents each a great deal.

They look big enough to me Sandi, and you can sure get lots more variety that way, and you only have to stitch a couple of hems too. Very clever of you to think to do that! Your tables sure are turning out pretty. Luvs

I thought I posted a reply the other day but must not have hit the button.

I love both tables and I bet your son was so happy because you put so much thought and love into it. Beautiful tables.

you gals are so talented and create such beautiful and interesting settings. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at both threads even though I haven't posted in them that much. I am tossing around the idea of getting the crystal dishes from Dollar Tree and working table settings around them - it is just DH and myself that actually eat at the table since Mom is bedridden, Maybe it will challenge me to keep the table clean and not use it as a desk extension....

Thanks dd. Lynne, the crystal dishes could be used in so many different looks. I think they would be fun to design around. Go for it! But be warned, it's addicting. LOL

lynnencfan, since I've been coming here & learning how to do a table, I keep my decorated year round now. It doesn't matter if only my immediate family sees it, I truly enjoy it everyday when I get up & see it all decked out!

It hasn't stopped the grandkids from coming in & dumping their things right on the table, although they've been told, but they enjoy it too, so I won't complain too much!

As long as it makes you happy, that's what it's all about!

Sandi, I'm loving the plaids more & more too, although, I never see them at our DT, you must come here & snatch them all up!!!! LOL

Yachter, I don't think I've ever seen so much of one thing at DT as those plaid hand towels. They must have had dozens. They had the dinner & salad plates and bowls in 3 different colors to coordinate with the colors of the towels and when I decided I couldn't live without all of it they only had a few of this and that left. We have 3 DTs around here and they all have some stuff none of the others have.
