the (shopping) Devil made me do it....

I had to drop some clothes off at Goodwill, but they must have known I was coming. Someone stuck a big ol' sign out front saying it was Half Off Saturday! Well my mini van didn't want to go around back to the drop off door, it just turned right in and parked by the front door and refused to budge. I had no choice but to go inside. Darn van just has a mind of its own (and the driver lost her's a long time ago).

I've never wanted a cornucopia, and they didn't really appeal to me till I saw the beautiful one Slinkey designed. So I thought, if I ever run across one at GW, I may get it if the price is right. I haven't even seen any in there tho. Till today. LOL. So its all Sly Slinkey's fault I bought it.

This metal cornucopia was $2 on half-off sale.

This Santa Nutcracker was only $2 as it was half-off day. He's 21" high and in perfect condition.

I am so thrilled with this find!!!

It's like you've 'Escaped' and have gone on a
    'Wild Shopping Spree'!!!
BUT...I have to admit, You've Did So Gooooood!

Wow, Karen, I will accept the 'Blame' for that fabulous Cornucopia. I love that it's Metal and looks in perfect condition. What a terrific price.
If I didn't like it..I'd Plead Innocent Of Having ANY Influence On Your Spending Binge...

I also can't believe you bought that Nutcracker there too, and also for $2! You were at the right place at the right time.
See, your heart was doing something Good by going there, and you were Rewarded!! lolol

    How wonderful.

Ok since you've accepted the blame, LOL, perhaps you'd like to share some ideas on how to decorate this metal cornucopia. By the way, I think its about the same size as yours, its pretty big.
Yep, I did good. I donated clothes, I donated money LOL,
I'm helping the economy a lot this past week. So I deserve all my rewards as you say. Hey..works for me!!!
Why take a Guilt Trip when I've got you to justify my spending spree. LOL.

I LOVE that cornucopia. I mean, I really LOVE IT! Nice job, Karn.

Karen, do you really think we are buying that story???? You was taking clothes to donate and just had to stop and shop? Oh, I get it, you had to take clothes to make room so you could stop and shop!!! So you didn't say you dropped off your clothes, did you? How funny!

I love your great finds and the price was to good to pass up. They both look brand new. So very happy for you again. TFS Punk

Karen.. it's even better since it's a big one.
You can use all sorts of nice faux fruit, leaves pine cones, nuts etc..OR, you can use nice dried florals - uh oh, (Back To Michaels)!! lol But hey, with the Floral Arrangement you made for your DDIL, you don't need help.

If you're looking for some variations,
I did some research for you, to check out :

Thanks for the links, Sly. I am NOT going to Michaels again for a long time. Do you know, that when the Manager helped me out to my car with all those bags (stop laughing, they don't let you take the carts outside any longer), he had the gall to say he'd see me in the morning (cause they gave me another coupon to use)!!!
So I better find stuff around the house to use for my Corny or its going to sit there empty and look pretty anyway. LOL.

Punk, OA, I'm so glad you liked my new finds too. I really am happy at getting them, and on sale day to boot.
And yes, I did drop off the clothes before I left.

    lol, Karen. I've had similar trouble with my car. They sure can develop a mind of their own... and mine is with yours. (-;
Love your cornucopia. It looks great, and I really like the little feet. You people will probably *make* me leave my old one in the closet. I did decorate it last year, but my attempts fall short of the displays here. As pretty as you did your DDIL's pumpkin arrangement, you won't have any problem with the c.

I do have one last tip -- if you should happen to use real fruit, don't forget it *is* real. Once I found the prettiest green apples and used them and some acorn squash in a display with faux leaves and fruit. Let's just say the acorn squash held up much better than the apples, and let it go at that.

Great buys!! I have a wicker corny with sunflowers & cat tails in it. Some Christmas greens & same ornies nestled in among them would be nice also!! Big nutcracker Santa!! Nice addition to your collection!! Carts??? our GW never has had carts, other TS does tho, leaves both hands free to check thing out!! LOL Jan

Karen, I can't believe you found that great nutcracker for only $2.00. I bet you were thrilled when you saw it! Perfect addition to your collection. Can't wait to see what you do with the cornucopia, it's a really nice one too. Yep, do a good deed and reap the rewards--I like that concept. ;o) Luvs

Karen...just to let you know, I've printed out my Michael's
    coupons for tomorrow!
Now all I have to do, is convince DH to drop me off there while he goes to Home Depot!...

This time it's YOU who made ME do it.

    LOL

PM, I always felt the same way about cornucopias, but after seeing Slinkey's...all I can say is WOW. It's beautiful! Now I'm going to be on the lookout for one too. I can't wait to see yours decorated.

Lee, that was too funny hearing about your real fruit! that's what happens to me when I try to decorate with those little mini pumpkins from the grocery store--I forget about them until they start to smell! Yuk!

    Luvs

P.S. Karen, I told DH about your "car trouble", and he said it must be a virus that effects the cars of all women since we can't seem to drive past the stores very often! LOL

Karen, that is a fabulous cornucopia (so many possibilities!) and beautiful nutcracker and at those prices, "how could you not, NOT buy them"?! (My DH used that line on me once for something he bought and I never let him forget it!) So have you gone through your closet packing up more clothes just in case your van decides to have a mind of its own next time you're out? lol!

Luvs, Ewwww, pumpkins past their prime would not be so great to have to clean up. Kind of like when there is always an Easter egg that doesn't get found. That's okay as long as it is outside, but if it is raining, and the kids hunt inside _____ (fill in the blank).

Glad you could relate to my apples!

Lucky girl! You got a real bargain on that Santa. And your cornucopia would fit right in with my decor! lol

You can decorate the c. for all the holidays. Nice and versatile!

Oakley, I didn't know that. I thought the cornucopias were only for Fall decor? WOW, be cool to use other times too I think.

    hugs, Karen

Very nice! Great finds. I especially like the cornucopia. It has great possibilities! Do you have pine cones? Those are a nice, free addition to use.

    Karen,

Very nice cornucopia. AND it stands by itself. It will look nice decorated traditionally OR you can do something a little different too. And the Santa nutcracker--a big one, at that. I'm not sure I've even seen a Santa before, and I also have a (small) collection. My favorite is the fisherman nutcracker but I would like a Santa too.

    - Magpie

p.s. I'm now driving DH's SUV, but strangely enough, even it knows where all the good places are!

    Magpie,

I think I've finally figured this whole thing out. If you play here enough, there's not enough help to keep those vehicles from crusin' into the fun stores we all love to shop at.LOL

So are you driving DH SUV so you can get there faster? Or because it holds alot more than yours???

    Punk

Magpie, that's a good line about your DH's suv! LOL

We can have a "share your nutcrackers" post when everyone starts pulling out their Christmas decorations since several of you seem to have them. That would be fun to see.

Lee--rotten easter eggs--yukky! Only thing worse is when a mouse dies in the attic or between the walls--used to have that experience when we lived in old farmhouses!
