Chicken nugget? Seriously?

I am looking at this range.. great reviews and a great price... looking at the close up pics - there is a button for chicken nuggets. It says "chicken nuggets" on the dang thing. Spending thousands for a classy kitchen Total deal breaker for me.. lol.

But, the hybrid is intriguing to me... any tips to share on these?

Thanks!

Here is a link that might be useful: CHicken nugget Range!!

Frigidaire is the low end of Electrolux. So that's why there's a chicken nugget setting. You probably won't find that setting on the Electrolux hybrid range.

Hey nuggets can be difficult! Sometimes they burn and other times they might still be frozen inside. I can never remember if it should be 15 minutes at 350 degrees or 350 minutes at 15 degrees (Celsius of course because Fahrenheit would just be silly). And the packaging! After figuring out how to open the box, they make you have to open a bag inside! What's up with that. Hope this range takes care of that for me too. Thanks for the link. Now I can serve my kids something other than cereal and milk.

    ... Sorry, couldn't resist.

At a great price like that I wouldn't care if it had a button marked "weenie tots".

I guess I just imagine that people needing help cooking their nuggets probably wont spend that much on a stove... I've found I can stick them in anything at any temperature and they come out perfect everytime.

What are weenie tots.. sounds fantastic!

Most people don't actually use the radiant electric portion of a hybrid once they get used to induction. The radiant part is good for your old copper/aluminum/glass/stoneware cookware, however, and could come in handy.

It could Pillog but then ya stuck with cleaning it when you use the radiant portion of it.I can tell you from having that fancy radiant cooktop, that thing was a bear to clean, and I think something got on the control panel, burned on and just could not be removed--even with a razor blade---I don't miss that "Turkey" Atoll!!!

In addition to that, there were terrible reviews of the Hybrid units, couple of users said "Would really be nice if they worked"

These were Electrolux Hybrids, maybe they have sorted out the bugs now, I know our Full induction cooktop has beenh trouble free, as have the other Elux appliances we have.

"Weenie Tots" seemed to be some sort of a very downmarket fictional pigs in a blanket brand name travesty of a real food product that were Al Bundy's favorite snack on the "Married With Children" comedy tv show.

I didn't think they were fictional, but real. Small, about like your pinky.

What always kills me are the ads for dual-oven ranges that sport copy like "Now you can cook dinner for the kids and yourself at the same time," while showing a pic of chicken nuggets coming out of the top oven. Ugh. Why can't the kids just learn to eat the salmon with lemon & dill sauce in the lower oven. I dislike the idea of special meals for kids so much that I cook gluten-free for the whole family when it's only DS1 who is diet-restricted.

I agree. The notion that a child should be raised on instant packaged food while the family eats real food is discouraging and just wrong.

It's all about the target audience.

I was hoping someone would mention a dish that really benefits from the nugget setting that is, like, REAL food.(I think I just bought a range with the CN setting and it's embarrassing.) and yes--Children should be raised on an excellent diet of real food--how else are they going to learn to eat a good diet?

The Chicken Nugget button can also be used as a shortcut if you want Convection Bake, 400°, 18 minutes, Warm Hold, to get the oven up to speed while you are on the way home. Telling whoever answers the phone to press one button keeps things nice and simple.

Boy, this thread made me laugh. We never cooked differently for our kids and can't imagine buying an appliance that explained to us how to do so. Now when we go out to dinner and my daughter orders salmon with dill sauce and my son orders the braised short ribs I sometimes wish they would order the chicken nuggets instead ... we could have upped my kitchen remodel budget!

HA! I've said the same thing, hilarymontville. My son chose to have his 10th bday party at The Palm ... we took two of his friends (and some coupons!), but we knew we were in trouble. In addition to NY strip (medium rare), he also loves sushi. Sigh. Luckily, DD balances it out a little bit -- eats like a bird.

Good point, hilarymontville. If I had raised my kids on chicken nuggets, maybe I wouldn't have had to compromise on the kitchen remodel budget. DS2 and I used to have a weekly date at Barnes & Noble for storytime. Afterwards, we would head over to the cafe for a snack. His little toddler friends would order a giant cookie or cupcake. DS2 would order the spinach & artichoke strata, or roasted eggplant panini, etc. The girls behind the counter would get the biggest kick out of him. Other kids pester their moms about the candy aisle at the grocery store, mine wants to hit the $8 / lb olive bar.

It makes me sad when parents say, "my kid will only eat hot dogs and mac & cheese." And they mean the blue box.

DH3 will turn 21 in a few months. He's always appreciated good food and been more adventurous than most kids. When we reminisce about vacations, he always brings up the great food he had on each one. For his 21st birthday he doesn't want to go to Las Vegas--he wants to go to Boston because he's heard about all the great food DH and I have had on our trips there. :) You'd think he would be a big guy the way he eats (still), but he's 6'0" and about 155 lbs. Wish I could burn calories like he does! LOL! This is a great thread after a rather difficult week--thanks!

mmmm salmon... I love it but can't cook it. I'd love an oven with a salmon button! I can figure everything else out, including chicken nuggets, believe it or not!!
