Gordman's

Wondering if any of you live near a Gordman's? We don't, but we went to a college game in Champaign, Il. on Sunday & there is a Gordman's there.

I had shopped it last year & couldn't wait to get there. They had at least 12 shelf units as you came into the store, full of fall & Halloween decor, all at 50% off their already low prices.

They have the retail price & then Gordman's price, which is much less than retail, and then they had 50% off.

I should have bought more, now kicking myself! They had off white ceramic pumpkins about 5 inch in diameter, price with 50 off, was $2.00 each & the bigger ones, about 8 inch in diam. would have been $3.50!!! Argh, I have no more storage space, but did buy a few things.

Actually, I think the lot of us would have cleaned out the entire display if we would have all been there.

I found the little trick or treat guy, he was $7 with the 50 off and the withces hat was $2.

The winter stuff I got was not 50 off, but still great prices. The tall blue tree was $14 and the smaller one was $7. The birds were $1.99 each & the bird thing with the candle was $14.

They gave me a coupon after I bought all my things, clothes for xmas gifts too and I hadn't bought the candle thing with the birds at first. We went to the basketball game & I kept thinking about it & we had to pass the store on way home, so I went in & used my coupon for 15% off & got the bird/candle for $13.00 including tax.

They had some big metal, flat pumpkins that would have looked great outdoors next year, really sorry I passed on them, they would have been $4.50 with discount. They were about 3 foot tall, rats, I hate when I pass up something at a store that is that far away (2 hours)!!!

I am going to do "winter scenes" since we're not doing xmas and won't be in town for it, so thought the blue trees would go well with the placemats I got a few weeks back at a yard sale. I never got pics of them up, so you will see them when I do my winter table!

Yachter, that Gordman's store sounds terrific, wish I could have gone shopping with you. Sounds/looks like you got a lot of nice things. Those blue trees look so pretty, can't wait to see the tablescape you do with them. The red birds are also wonderful and will no doubt look very Christmas-y next to some green garland with the "candle" turned on. I am in the market for some white or off white pumpkin bowls so I would have loved to have seen those!

Cute things. I really, really like those blue trees!
You had too much self-control, LOL. Definitely should have gotten the big metal pumpkins at that price!
Gosh, no Christmas decorating this year? Guess we'll be deprived of photos then! Darn.

Karen, you better believe I exercised restraint! When we walked in the store, I said to hubby, "I want everything on these shelves!"

I know I really have no more storage, I really don't!!! I'm overflowing in the basement. I do wish I had bought more, can't believe that is all I bought. I had a ton of bags, but also did some xmas shopping for gkids & son, so I guess I thought I bought more!!!

It's kind of like a Kohl's department store, but much more decor items & much better prices. Things I just don't see around here!

We ARE going back on the 23rd to another game!!! LOL LOL
I will surely hit that store again, game is at 3 p.m. & the store is open til 9 p.m.!!!

Oh yes, Karen, you will see pics. I am going to do a lot of "winter" season things, just no santa type decor!

I am trying to pull it together in my head. I have some green trees similar to the blue ones, they are candles & I have pine cone candles, but need more of something else to go with my winter theme on my table!

    SUGGESTIONS????

I can see using them in the BIG FLAKE-OFF.

Yachter, I've never heard of Gordman's, but from the looks of your goodies, that's another store I wish we had nearby. I love everything you bought.

I agree with OA, that your blue trees & candles will go great on a table for the Big Flake-Off. Just add snowflakes to your table. You have the start of a really pretty winter table.

I bought some blue (hear that, Kathleen?) at DT the other night to add to what I already have to do a snowflake table.

I hear you Sandi. I am thinking a snowflake with blue, one with turq..the plates from Pier one and a snowman snowflake table..or Flakey snowman, LOL..
Cute things, Lori! I thought you were scaling down to move South! Looks like you will need another truck!

Kathleen, I think the turq/aqua from Pier 1 would make a beautiful snowflake table and can't wait to see yours. I don't think I have enough of that color to do one this year so will doubly enjoy yours.

How fun to get to visit a different store from the ones in your own neighborhood, Yachter. I've not heard of it or seen one either, but will sure keep it in mind to visit if I ever do see one. I think you will still get that "holiday feeling" with your winter displays, I'll look forward to seeing how you use your new redbirds--I love birds too. Luvs

Sandi & OA, I have to admit I bought two of the soft, big snowflakes at DT last week, have no idea why, I'm getting the "Karen symdrome" buy it cause it's there & don't know why!

Now I'm thinking I should have gotten 4, but I already have placemats for the winter setting, so maybe the two will work out in it somewhere!!

Kathleen, the way the economy is going, my hubby better hold onto his good job here in the midwest & thoughts of moving south are long gone! Although, I might need an addition onto the house if I keep buying. I did say I controlled myself, I could have bought at least 25 more things, they had sooooo much & such great prices.

They only had one witch hat left, but couldn't pass it up, it was so cute.

Luvs, so true, we get bored with the same ole, same ole stores around us, and Gordman's truly is a GEM!

If you put in the www.gordmans.com, it shows locations, so if you are ever travelling you can look for one.

I was also looking for some small deer, mice etc. to use with my winter table, maybe next trip on the 23rd!! LOL

Judith got me started thinking "birds" on the tablescapes, but I rarely see them at garage sales. I love the red ones too, not sure if I'll use them on the table, probably on the end of my kitchen counter.

I do NOT have plates for a winter table, but if I buy them, where will I put them?????? Anyone want to donate to my addition to my house for more storage? LOL

Sounds like another 'addicting' store. Glad there's none near me..lol But I agree, it's so nice to go shopping at a new store,in a different location, and find different things. When I visited FL..they had a Bealls Outlet, a Ross and Steinmart stores, that I just loved. Sounds like you had a Ball shopping at Gordman's and got lots of great buys. I love the beautiful birds and the blue trees. There are so many possibilities with them. Can't wait to see what you do.

    Yacht,
I love the first pic. And who is the witch?
I'm also crazy about blue AND birds. Wsh there was one of those stores here.
    Betty

Betty, the witch is one of those little guys you put in the window or on the porch. I have another one I got at a yard sale a year ago, so now it has a friend!

I thought I had an individual pic of the other one, but can't find it, here it is in the window, it has a little brown bag in the hands that says
    trick or treat on it.
