Garland(s) decorated

Finally got around to decorating my garland last night. I'm not completely happy with both but it's my first time doing it and it was getting late. I'll be adjusting some things later.

LR

The lights got all skimpy on the right side. I went back to wal mart to pick up some more silver poinsettias for the garland and they were out. I managed to find a mashed up straggler but didn't want to use only one. While I was at Michaels I fell in love with these blue. Didn't care for the silver ones they had. Not sure what it is I like about them because I don't particularly care for blue. (remember DH wanted blue on the tree) I worried about them not matching but they have dark blue around the edges so I was hoping that would help tie them in. Don't know that I like them as much as I thought they would. . . they were 70% off so that was also appealing to me.

Kitchen.

The garland was so much easier to work with last night. There's three on top and each are wrapped with additional garland and lights. I added some picks. Glad I bought as many as I did.

I think both of these look much nicer in person. I hate how fake sugared anything photographs.

Also fixed this. Took the one I originally had up here back. It was skimpy in spots. Moved the other one I had on top of the cabinets to here.

Like I said I need to tweak some things and add some more. I'm open to any suggestions.

    Shee,

I think you did wonderful for the first go-round!!! The close-up of your kitchen garland is gorgeous and I can just imagine it in person. It has such great texture.

Same for the top of your china cabinet!

One thing I've learned is to never stress over a "first-year" decoration....it always takes me 2-3 years before I start to really become happy with it, so you are off to a better start than I ever am!

Hi sheesharee, You've done a great job with your decorating. I really like the way you did the kitchen too, above the cupboards.

You did a great job with the garland. I love those blue poinsettia's. I have learned when you start getting frustrated with decorations it is time to stop and when you pick up later or the next day it always goes smoother.

They are lovely! Everything looks so festive and the blue is very pretty. Would love to have space above in the kitchen to decorate. You did good!!

All your garlands look so good now--give yourself a big pat on the back Shee! Your blue poinsettias are lovely and looks to me like they tie in with the tree just fine. Good job--and isn't it fun to be decorating your own home? ;o) Luvs

Shee, it all looks so beautiful. Thanks for that idea to do the top of the kitchen cabinets.

    Sheesharee,

I love the garland in your kitchen - by the way, I LOVE your kitchen!

How many garlands did you use to do that?

Thanks everyone. Yes I'm having a blast decorating. DH still thinks I'm a little overboard. Haha he was just saying last night how we could decorate other people's houses with our stuff. I just thought to myself,"you have no idea honey. Visit the Holiday forum for awhile."

Anyhow, thanks Prosperity! There are three 9' sections of garland on top. I then wraped 3 cheap garlands around each section and added lights. Actually the garland above the refrigerator, I had to tuck the third section back behind the second because there was too much. I didn't want it to look real bushy just in one spot. The LR only had one garland. Forgot to pick up another to add to it.

shee your garland came out lovely. I can see you worked really hard on it all. No one would suspect this is your first time decorating. You should be very proud . I like the blue poinsettias and I like the way your kitchen and china cabinet garland looks with the lights added..what a nice idea.

Sheesharee, All of your garlands are very pretty. You are doing a wonderful job. And I love your blue poinsettias too. By the way, if anyone has a Family Dollar in their area they have some odd colored blue poinsettias (pink too). They're a deeper color than most I've seen.

VERY pretty garland, Shee. I think you did a super job with it. The kitchen garland looks really nice. But then, all of it does. And that close-up pix of the blue poinsettias really showed how lovely and delicate the blue coloring on them is.

If I've learned anything between last Christmas and this one, here on the Forum, its that one can never have too many garlands or picks. LOL.

Don't scare your hubby off by telling him to check us out! You need to "ease" him into this decorating thing. LOL
My DH was very pleased with what I did this year, tho he never saw the stuff laying all over the place to realize just HOW MUCH there was. Bad enough he saw umpteen bins on the back porch holding it.
    LOL

    hugs, Karen
